Swamped

Yep... I have been swamped with school and work... and school... and yep work again.

I've said yep twice, in a poorly constructed sentence. wow.

Anyways, I am procrastinating here verses writing my credential writing sample about "the applicants interest in teaching children with the diversity of languages and cultures represented in California schools".

So... 500-600 words, never seemed so easy and yet so ... ... can't think of the word...

Why couldn't I just write about my personal pedagogy... but if anything, I probably can work that into my 'interest'... oi... I need to think.

Ok Heather... time to be smart... I can do that~... yep. ;p

The scarf is what I made for Jimmy when he went to his trip to Japan, for his class, he used it~ I had never been more happy to see a nice pilled scarf in my life~ :D

Knit Picks, Swish DK, Marbled Heather and Storm colorways, US 8, 320 stitches repeated 10 rows of garter stitch, alternating between the colors, knit length wise. Came out great~ (also yes I am aware of the 'mistake, I mean design feature' I view it as a cute intentional little heart shape I left for him. ;D

Finally, this semester seems to have settled in. I have had my first 'accomplished' day since classes have started.

This semester is going to be a TON of reading... more then I have had before.... seriously. These classes depend on our reading the material from the textbooks etc. There is no way around it. Which is good... but man... seriously time intensive. ( I am starting to wonder when I would have time for WoW, I may suspend my account again. *sad face*)

Work is also taking time... 15 hours a week about. I am kind of in limbo with work. I am hired, ready to go to OCC but... the STEM Center there is not completed... which is the place I would be working. So I cannot go to the campus and do my job... until that center is completed. I have been keeping busy on campus, in the office creating Advising documents that I can use later on.

Lots of knitting is getting done tough! It is the only thing I can just bust out and relax for a while between classes or during some lectures.

They came out ok, only downside is that there was a knot in the 100 gram ball, and the dyelot completely changed. So I am going to spend an afternoon doing some dying (Koolaid probably) to help it kind of match the rest of the sock and the first one.

Today is going ok thus far. I got 9 out of 10 correct on my History/Econ course... where I was frantically studying for this morning. I will not slack again~ it is too much material.

I also have appointment at the Student Health Center to see about another type of medication (beyond the antibiotics they gave me a week ago) that I can take for my chest congestion. They were talking about an inhaler medication, and every 'nurse' type relative I have, suggested the same thing. So step 2 of meds for me please.

Umm, I picked up my work 'Student Outreach Advisor' polo shirt today ... it looks good~ and l like the red! ;D

Oh! I have something exciting to mention! I PASSED my LAST 2 CSETS!!!! :D I got the online scores yesterday~~ So that means I am DONE with all my STATE TESTING~~~ for the Teaching Credential program~~~~ THANK GOODNESS~ xD I am so excited about that. Now I can look forward into getting the rest of the application requirements met for Credential program. My To-Do list keeps getting bigger and bigger. However, since I have taken all of the pre-reqs, a lot of the list is already checked off. I.e I have taken my TB test, the Fingerprint scan/background check... etc. I am getting there~ :D

I also added my last NEEDED class~ this morning. History of Chicano Art... for me to graduate. I sadly made a mistake in my schedule and did not have one last upper division history course.... otherwise I would not have graduated!!!! ><; I cannot believe I missed that and made that mistake. Fml. But I figured it out and fixed it... and this teacher is kind of a trip in her passion for the subject... but she is good... no joke. I am going to like this course. It may kick my butt, as will the rest of my classes... but I will take it... haha.

Umm... Oh I should probably mention the bird in the glass case. It is a stuffed condor that is on display in our Library, from OCC. OCC works in a condor preservation group ( I remember when it started I knew a girl that was working on it) and this is one of the birds they released into the wild... and sadly died. :( It drank anti-freeze, so it was poisoned. Poor thing. But... LOOK AT THE SIZE OF IT! I took the photo intentionally took the photo with the person next to the bird, just to compare the size~ Crazy. This condor was only 1 year old! O.o; I didn't know birds got this big! This is far different in comparison to my turtle neck doves and thinking pigeons were big birds. lol

I should end this and get to writing some emails. I need to get some paperwork filled out for my field experience work for the application requirements. :) I love feeling productive... its depressing otherwise.

11 Textbooks later... And I am $443 poorer. Thank goodness for the wonder that is Financial Aid.

I am actually missing one of the textbooks, from the pile... It is on order, so I paid for a copy and will pick it up when it comes in.

These books are for only 3... THREE Classes!!!! Ugh. Dude, I could have bought so much yarn with this 400 dollars. *tear*

However, all the books are reasonably priced. They are mostly reading books, so ranging from 20 to 30 dollars. The true killers are the Spanish 1 book and work book, almost being half of my puchase, $ wise.

It is what it is... I am not complaining. Who knows, I may be able to do a lot of reading and knitting at the same time this semester! ;D

In the background, is the view I have of our massive rain storm. We had a little bit of lighting and quite a far share of thunder. Today is suppose to be the worst of it.

Us, So Cal folks, are not used to this rain weather. ;p Apparently some people cannot remember to put their car lights on while driving in the rain. Other then that tho, it is not too bad where I am at. We haven't had any tornado warnings like Orange County has... Apparently Long Beach had a few twisters too.

Just a lot of wet... Which is nice to have, because I actually get to see my cats in doors for once... Granted they are sleeping most of the time. But I am a crazy cat lady, so their company is welcomed.

I just cannot wait to get home, start my antibiotics and do some reading and knitting. I am thinking, with this much reading for the semester... I may have to cancel my WoW acount for a bit... Because I am not sure if I will get much time to play. (As for the anti biotics, I went to the health center yesterday. So I am on antibiotics in hopes of getting rid of my neverending sinus infection)

Another year

I am still alive... meaning that survived last semester. Which was a challenge, Finals this last semester were the toughest I have encountered. The entire week went by like a blur, I only knew the days passed, by having lunch every day be Ramen (chicken flavor) lol.

This semester seems to be fun, like I always say at the start of every semester. I do think this is the first semester, at CSUCI, where I am not taking any Edu course. I finished them all. I am taking two History/Business courses... and oh my goodness, I have not had this many guys in my classes before. I am used to having like at the most 4-5 boys in a class, here for my History of Business and Economy of North America and there are 23 boys and only 13 of us girls!!! O.o; So this is the major that all the men are in... lol I knew they existed on campus. ;) I wonder what the ration of my History of Modern Japan will be like. I am also taking one class, with my favorite boy~ Jimmy. We finally have a class together (after close to 5 years of dating and going to college together!), we are taking Spanish 1... so romantic. ;D lol I am excited for that class, it will be fun to touch up my Spanish and be goofy in it again... I took 3 years of Spanish, I think this will be fine. My last course is a Library study course, where from what I gather from the syllabus, we will take trips to various libraries, Ronald Regan Library, CSUN Library, etc (even my old high school was on the list, but that got changed to an elementary school one due to various reasons, my high school was state of the art when it was built in 2001, still is nice).

I've been knitting a ton lately... I finished my Aunt Jennie's socks for her by Christmas, she LOVED them~ she was stoked that her feet were not cold at all when she wore them on Christmas. Mission Accomplished. I also made a cowl for her, if she likes it, in a light blue, from Rowan Damask, it is the Winding River Cowl from the last Interweave. I want to make one for myself, when I get to make a trip over to Micheals and try the Lion Brand Superwash dk yarn.

I knit the Grandmother a scarf in the Seagrass pattern that I bought off of Twist Collective Fall 09.

I do not have the best photos of them up, because I knit them as quickly as I could and blocked them asap and then packaged them and sent them off to Virgina before they all came home. I had hoped that they would be used while they were over there, in this crazy thing called snow, and they were. :)

I think I did some other knitting. I started some Regia socks, which are both finished with the leg and I need to start the heel flap next.

The IHeart Toe-up socks from Wndy Johnson, from her book Socks From the Toe Up... no confusion here I think... they are Toe-up socks. My second pair (ignoring my test knit for South West Trading Company, for their second book, that is coming out this summer. More info on that later, as the publish date comes closer, I have photos lol).

I found a KAL on Ravelry, talking about knitting these socks this month... and I loveeeddd this pattern when I bought the book. So I thought kill two birds with one stone, in try to enter the KAL, and get an awesome pair of socks out the deal. I am knitting them out of KnitPicks Essential (now Stroll) 100gram yarn in Burgundy. I already finished 1 sock today! :D So 4 days = 1 sock sounds good to me. I am just started the toe tonight, for the second sock. I cannot wait to wear them, they are super cute and red and has <3's>

I also got a new toy yesterday...

An HP dv4-2145dx Laptop in Moonlight White!! I don't have a photo of it to post... but if you go to best buy's site and search that model, it has some awesome photos of it! I would post the link, but apparently every time I try to do that, it never works... so I guess they do something to it so whatever. It is SOOOOO pretty! I absolutely adore the white top and keyboard of this laptop, I wasn't looking for a pretty laptop, but this one turned out to be a brand new (just came out last week) model and looks amazing! xD It also plays WoW better then my desktop... no surprise there. 4 gigs of Ram (expandable to 8, so maybe later) with a Great ATI HD Mobile 4200 Graphics card. So I got top of the line... and pretty~ xD I love it.

I am also happy that I have a laptop again... the reason for this new laptop was because my old one kept having issues of the screen not working or the computer booting up. So after the 4th visit it took to GeekSquad, they determined my laptop was a lemon... which is under the insurance plan I bought, which meant that I was able to take the value of my original laptop and use it towards a 'comparable' technology. So I got this pretty pretty laptop, and did not have to pay a difference, it was actually $30 cheaper, after taxes. Where I of course bought the 3 year accidental warranty for this new laptop again! Psh~ Otherwise I would have been screwed so badly when the 1st problem occurred on my laptop years ago. <3>

This laptop will also be helpful in my new job... oh I haven't posted about that... well that will be for another post... it is 9pm... and I should be getting to bed soon. I have school tomorrow~ I also want to get back to finishing that toe on my sock! ;D

I have to say that I was quite jealous of the letter S worksheet that my Kindergarteners had today. I was so jealous that I had to take a picture of it!

Looking at this worksheet made me wish I had my sock knitting right there and then. I need to figure out what yarn I want to use for the Wandia socks for the KAL I am in. Today is the first day to start <3 I cannot wait for this weekend to get started.

Oh back to the worksheet, it was adorable to watch the children color their socks. Some were, interesting, some were very colorful and even striped. It did hurt my heart when a boy said he wanted to leave his socks... White.. *tear* all the possibilities. Alas, he was happy with his choice.

I do get to work with the Kindergarteners tomorrow as well, but after lunch. So I am excited to see them in their routines to end the day. I am also very proud of myself that I am getting better at memorizing their names! :D *so proud*

Now, I am on campus... About to write a ton of notes for my Edu 520 class at 4pm. I never liked cramming things in... But I have been that busy, that I some times need to during the week. *sigh* I want Saturday already. Heh.

I have to say, I was pretty jealous of my Kindergarten classes worksheet they had today.

It made me really want to have my sock knitting with me and just start knitting right there and then.

However, it was adorable to see the colors that the children used for their socks. One boy wanted to just leave his sock white... And I have to say, that hurt my heart just a bit lol.

I get to go back and work with them tomorrow after lunch. So I am excited about watching them in their routines after lunch. :)

I am really enjoying these classroom observations. I adore my Second graders and love learning of the Kindergarteners. Plus, I am doing much better in learning their names, so I am extra proud of that.

Now time to write out my notes for my Edu 520 class... Never a fan of cramming things in till the last minute. I cannot wait for this weekend already. *sigh*

A Sock and an Update

I have been soooo busy.

First the summer was packed full with conventions, trips, and working on campus at the Alumni office.

So as soon as Blizzcon ended (which was sooooo much fun!) the next day school started!

School has been kicking my butt this semester, thus far, but in a good way. I am kept super busy~ I am always getting ready for the next day of classes, so when Friday rolls around I appreciate the day off. (Usually with sleeping in, knitting, and listening to some audiobooks or podcasts!)

This past weekend was also really busy but super fun! :D

Friday, I stayed home and slept, omg I needed that day off. Saturday was up early and off to CSUCI for the trip to Dodger Stadium, with my parents and Jimmy! It was Dodgers vs The Giants, Dodgers won 12 to 1. It was a fantastic game, for one reason being in the All-you-can eat-section, which meant that I enjoyed eating 2 Dodger Dogs, and not having to pay 10 bucks for them and tons of other snacks! :D Jimmy bought his much-wanted Dodgers LA hat at the park. ^^* (he has been wanting to get one forever~ and he finally had the funds~).

Sunday was Mikomicon at CSUN! :D That was a lot of fun too, especially for it being a small con. My brother knew the guy who started this con, 4 years ago (since Alex went to CSUN) and knew where it was and that the Anime CSUN club put this together. So Alex dropped off me and Jimmy at CSUN, and hung out with his friends in Northridge (so no parking fee for us~).

The Dealers Hall/Artist Ally, was so much more manageable since it was smaller (in comparison to AX's Dealers hall) and I was tempted to buy a few things~ but decided not too. I need to have a check for $50 bucks today for my Health book lol priorities.

Went and saw Traci Hines concert, ran into tons of people, I knew, Jimmy knew, and in turn they all knew each other. So that was really interesting and fun.

Jimmy interviewed and talked with Kyle Herbert, a popular voice actor for video games and anime, and we watched him do a 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' type spoof on the DragonBall Evolution (a bad live action movie on Dragon Ball Z the anime). So that was hilarious~

After that, one last visit to the Dealers Hall and Console room, and we headed out. Hung out with my brothers friends 'Late Bday Celebration for him'... ate some pork sandwiches and cake... and called it a day and headed home. :D

Jimmy is going to do an article for Traci Hines concert and band announcement 'Sirens Call' and put up the audio of his interview with Kyle Herbert, on AnimeVice.com So I will be excited to see those go up.

I am so tired from this weekend, I slept in till 10am.

But I have to get up~ because I have a reflection paper for my Edu 520/521 class and email it to my supervisor today. 2 pages, double spaced, no problem.

Time to get started on this paper~ I have a night class at 6pm tonight, so I do not have all afternoon to finish this. :D

Fair Entry Winnings

So I haven't blogged about how my fair entries did.

Well, I entered 5 knitted items:
An infant cardigan, a baby hat/cap, a pair of socks (pomatomus), a stuffed rabbit (kind of looks like a door stop), and a small scarf (palindrome pattern).

My entries did well. I earned 3 Honerable Mentions (for the scarf, socks, and bunny). Then I also earned 2nd Place with my infant cardigan. (with a whooping prize money of 2 dollars) lol.

So in the end, I was pleased. I kind of threw these entries together in a month. So not bad really for a first try. So I have a dollar check and four ribbons in my glovebox of the car.

Right now, I am sitting in my car, along the beach, staring out at the ocean... While knitting on a sock. ;D Along with finishing my iced coffee. A nice start off for the day, if I do say so myself. It is also kind of fun watching the surfers in the water. It is kind of a 'gloomy' overcast at the beach, but I like it! ^.^

So it has been awhile.

I know this. I have been busy. I have been helping with the Alumni Association at my school. Making calls, setting up mailers and creating both a facebook group and linked in profile for the association. Which has been fun.

I haven't forgotten about my knitting though. I finished the baby jacket for the fair. I have plans of also making an infant hat to enter too. So I have several things in the works.

I went to Anime Expo with Jimmy on July 1st-5th in LA. So that was a lot of fun! I brought along some sock knitting with me! I pretty much completed the cuffs and legs of both socks.

But probably the most exciting this I have going on right now is an item I have owned for 3 days.

A brand new Palm Pre! :D It is so amazing I love having a smart phone. This phone rivels the Iphone. Even Jimmy is some what jealous over some of the features this phone has. I adore this smart phone so much... That Iam even using it to type out this blog post now! Iam stillgetting used to the key board right now, but Iam enjoying it.

Iam also really using twitter now. Where as before I kind of just messed with it in class once in a blue moon. Now I check it all the time! So follow me if you want. Iam still figuring out how to do photos in my twitter posts, but I am getting there! :D My screen name is HSailorMoon

I guess that is it for now. Next major step on this phone is to put photos on blogger here. Baby steps right now.

I went and bought my very first spindle (top whorl) and roving set/kit!!!! :D I've known of this etsy seller for awhile... and decided... this morning is the day I will buy it! :D Plus it is super pretty too!

I am excited!~ I cannot wait for it to come... and... now I have to stop typing and get ready... time for more moving of stuff~ (We are all helping some family friends in moving~).

Well, Knitting wise... a lot! :D

This is what I have been working on since school has ended.

This guy, is going to be a Fair Entry! (our County fair is comming up soon)

It is a baby (newborn) jacket. Eyelet Baby Cardi (rav link).

I am enjoying this. :D Plus it will go by quickly... and I can 'say' I have knit a 'jacket' before~ xD

Does this scarf look familiar~ Well it should. This is the green Palindrome scarf (rav link), the same yarn and color I used for making my friend Andrew's scarf last year. :D (I had an extra skein left over).

This small scarf is going to be another Fair entry, since I knew that all my friends liked them, I thought why not enter it! :D I finished this in 2 - 3 days. :D

Now these pretty socks are part of the Sock Innovation KAL that I joined. Sunshine (rav link) from Cookie A's Sock Innovation (rav link)

I am really liking this pattern and I was able to use some sock yarn from, swaps I did last year!! :D It came out so pretty, the pooling is a bit different with each sock... the most complete one has some type of stripes, where as the other sock does not and the purples are a bit lighter too. Either way~ I like them! These may or may not be a Fair Entry... I can only enter 1 knit item per class, and socks are their own class... so I am going to have to choose which pair of socks to enter. *cry*.

This sock is from Juno Fibre Arts, Buffy Sock (rav link) I love her etsy store! The color way is Alchemy (it was one of a kind! so I had to snag it!) I have to say I love BFL and I love the colors and I love the yarn, she is one of my fave etsy sellers! I always check what new stuff she has! :D

Just a typical 64 CO sock. I have the basic pattern memorized really. :D I have the other cuff finished and is in the red 'bag' in the top photo (I do my socks in sections at the same time, if I can, as to get them done faster and at the same time).

Then here are the completed Glynis (rav link) socks from, once again Cookie A's Sock Innovation. I love the fit. These are also up for dibs to enter for the Fair. I am going to have my family vote as to which ones to enter, later this month. Entries are all due July 24-26th.

I went to the campus yesterday (to have lunch and see Jimmy~ he just got back from Virginia for 2 weeks) and went by the Edu department and got my grade changed 'finished' turns out the teacher was there that morning and even though I missed her, she changed it later that day (I left a note, so I am thinking she forgot boo).

Then I met up with two school (Deans office ppl) contacts that my Dad knows through various meetings or what not... and has been wanting me to meet them. Turns out one of them needs help for the summer... and my Dad suggested I could do it (and besides my knitting, I am not doing much). So I am volenteering to help at the Deans office for the summer. :D So that will be a lot of fun! ^^* All I need is a parking permit and I am set~ :D

I signed up for my classes next semeter... I am taking my two field experience (in the classroom) classes (which are lonngggg days) M and W. Then nothing Tuesday. Thursday I am taking a Child health class, and then ending (late boo 6-8pm) with my Capstone course! So I am going to be sooooooo busy this semester, it is not even funny. But then in Spring... all I have left to finish to graduate is Spanish and 2 emphasis classes~ So then I will have completed my BA... and all the pre-reqs for the Credential Program. Then I will have another year at CSUCI to finish that! xD So close~
Oh and then I end with this, I love having Jimmy back home!

I wanted a cookie, omg I wanted a cookie so bad... and we were going back to his house... so I said 'lets go to vons!' and I bought my cookies (sugar cookies in the small bag to the left)... and then omg the Oatmeal creme pies (debbie bliss) were on sale, so my brother will now worship me for buying those.

Then after I was done checking out, Jimmy had 'checked' on something... and FOUND IT!!!! I had been looking everywhere, just to see the World of Warcraft 'Game Fuel' sodas!!! xD Plus, it was ON SALE~ Buy 2 boxes and get 3 FREE!!!! Could not pass that up~ So we bought 5... We split them, I have 2 Horde (red) and 1 Alliance (blue) and Jimmy has 1 of each (he bought some in Virgina too, so this is my first time having it! :D)

See~ how cool we are~ ;D I cannot wait for Blizzcon in August.

Missing In Action.

Yep... I can admit that... I haven't blogged... in quite some time *ahem* almost a month.

School has ended, I did well... 4 A's... and 1 B (which I am having issues with the teacher in 'fixing' this grade... she 'lost' one of my final papers... and emailed me asking if I had 'turned it in'... of course I did!.... so she is having to do some paperwork to fix it... but had knee surgery last week... and I haven't heard from her for a week... so I am nervous. But you get 7 weeks after the grades are turned in to 'edit' them... so she better change that stupid C to my rightful B! *grumble grumble*).

I have been knitting like a mad women though! :D I have finished the Pomatomus socks (and my Farmor loved them, she swears she will never wear them... >.>;).

I have knit and completed one of Cookie A's sock patterns from her book, Glynis (and they look amazing!) in Malabrigo sock! :D

I am also half way (both socks at the heel) in another Cookie A's pattern Elynis (from the book), for my Aunt Jennie.

I am also about 3/4th's done with another Cookie A's pattern (from the book), Sunshine, for myself for another KAL on Ravelry (the first one... let's just say FAILED in terms of their crazy, and too many, rules).

I haven't taken much photos of my knitting... but I will do that soon~.

Plus I have been playing WoW these past few days... so my summer vacation... is doing quite well. :D

I have my Science Final today... at 8am.

It is 5:35am and I woke up at 2:30am.

I have to leave the house in about an hour... to get to school.

Then after my Science Final, I have to complete my Historian's Craft paper 16-25 pages.... I have three sections I have not written... and then the transitions. I am so glad we have been working on this paper all semester long.

Went to Solvang, CA this last Sunday, for Mother's Day. I was able to bring Jimmy with me! :D I bought cute things... (including a cat plushie~ which is adorable! ;D) and a book. Nothing that screams 'solvang/toursity'.

I do however am already planning on going back to Solvang with my Dad. The Garden shop that he wanted to go to was closed on Sundays... and the most amazing yarn and spinning store was closed by the time I got there (I missed it by like 15 minutes, it closed at 5pm). So sad. The Spinning store had like 6 amazing spinning wheels in the windows, I saw boxes of colored roving, shelves of yarn, etc! :( So sad.

I MUST GO BACK! ;D lol So that will be another day trip. :) I am excited, it was such a nice visit.

I am reading "Teach Like Your Hair's On Fire" for my Edu 320 class... we have to select our favorite quotes per chapter... and then write responces to them... and at the end reflect and write a summary.

Due Wednesday... but I have my HUGE History paper Final draft DUE Wednesday also... and that is going to kick my butt this week.

Along with a stupid Lecture Quiz for Geology on Tuesday....

One more week of classes... that's 4 days... and then Finals week... and I only have 1 actual Final Test out of all my classes... thank goodness.

There was no harm to the yarn or crochet square in this event. (Thank goodness~) Lol.

Laddie was very calm with the square... and it was easy to take it back from him. He is a great dog. :) I enjoy it when Jimmy's Grandparents take care of this dog. :)

I have till Thursday night to finish my Pomatomus socks for the KAL! ><;;;; I finished the heel completely on Sock 1... I am half way through the heel flap on Sock 2.... I think I can I think I can.

I am going to finish up this history paper/segment to drop off to the class... and just leave... to come back and knit some more.

So, I think I had mentioned before that I was required for a class to go to the Museum of Tolerance in LA this past Friday. Which in turn, I was really looking forward too... but that day had some twists and turns, much more then I had expected. ;D

Let's start with heading out the door that morning. My Dad and I decided we should leave for LA at around 9am (you never know with traffic, on a good day it would take 45 mins, on a bad day it could take up to 2-3 hours). So we left at 9am! No biggy...

Until we went down two blocks from where we lived... stopped at a Stop sign... and all of a sudden we hear a 'Pop' noise... so we pull to the side of the road. Only to realize, Wow, the clutch is not working in having the van change gears?! Hmm, that's not good. O.o;

This is what happened! One of the axils had poped off! (To me it looks like a plunger lol) Soooo, my dad calls his mechanic... he can take it in today... next thing, we kinda need to get the van to him to fix it. After calling Alex (who is still at home), he googles us a towing company, which we've used before.

So about 10 minutes later, the tow truck arrived. (My Dad's van is a 1986 VW Vanagon)
After a cheapppppp $66 dollars later, they will tow the van to the mechanic for us! So my Dad and I walk the super super far two blocks back home, hop in my car (the volvo) and at 9:35am we head off to LA!

(At the end of the day, the mechanic fixed the Van with no problems and $80 dollars later, the Van was done and ready to be picked up! Talk about the best of the worst happening, two blocks from home, a cheap towing and an easy inexpensive fix... we will pick up the VW later today.)

Now I really do not have any photos of driving to LA, we did not encounter much traffic really. However, we had like 2 near hits, one with a guy merging into our lane... while we are still in it! The dude, decided he wanted our spot in that lane apparently, so my Dad switched lanes to avoid the jerk. Second event was while traffic was moving well, all of a sudden the kinkos truck ahead of us breaks, so we follow suit... However! The car next to us also breaks, yet the person behind him was kind of going a bit tooooo fast and massively breaked, full on smoke, black tire streaks, the whole nine yards (including the bad smell of burnt rubber and noise). So to the left of us, we see this whollleeee thing happen! The small black car, did lightly tap the SUV's bumper... and I was expecting to see (after hearing the breaking) quite a crunch between the two vehicles... and honestly... I saw noooo damage.... nothing. So they were both quite lucky... yet they both eventually did get off the freeway to check possible damage and insurances. Irregardless to the fact that nothing bad happened, it was still nerve racking for me to see it all. u.u; Yeah LA freeway driving, is sooooo not like ventura country freeway driving.

Plus in LA, there are ANGRY drivers, oh the amount of honking you hear is insane! Poor LA people are cranky. Maybe its too much coffee. lol I dunno. ANYWAYS~

We get to LA and decide, it's almost lunch time and we have to be at the Museum at noon, so we need to get some food. Then we spot a Norms resturant!

All I can say is nom nom nom~ The food is fantastic. (Iam sorry but f*you Dennys)

My Dad then procedded with sharing his stories of these type of resturants growing up in the Vally (San Fernando Valley) here and eatting at these places. He even listed the various ones as we ate and as he remembered them. Like how he went to this smorgiousbord eattery (I know I cannot spell it) before he left for Vietnam with his family and ate 23 sausage meatballs lol a personal best he said. ;D lol My Daddy. He's cute.

Then we go to the Museum of Tolerance, good stuff. Very educational. They have upgraded things and topics in the Multi-Diversity section, which was very great to go through.

The Holocaust section is just as I remember it as a child... (8th grade)... but different all at the same time. I really enjoyed getting a more adult perspective, plus having the oh I dunno, 8 years of knowledge worth of history to reference to everything else was a bonus, in that I was able to follow it all that much better.

3 hours later, we were finished. :) Good stuff. Even if my classmates were as quite as rocks in discussions our tour guide tried to start. My Dad and I had to jump in and talk quite often, because no one said anything, most of the time. u.u; (which is another similarity of when I went to this museum in 8th grade, apparently 8 years later, some students still stay the same) lol ~

Afterwards, it was close to 4pm... which means Dun Dun Dunnnn Rush Hour traffic. So we take some detour routes and head towards the PCH freeway and pulled over to McDonalds to get something to drink (and ice cream ;D) and wait out the traffic a bit.

Yet we pull into this tiny McDonald's parking lot to realize there are these white screens and half of the parking lot is closed off. Hmmm. What's this?!

Now to point things out in this photo. My car is on the right side of the photo... see the 'actor' in the light blue jacket to the right, my car is parked (you see the back window) to the left of his left shoulder... kinda hard to see, look past the silver car.

The Camera is to the far far left, middle of the photo. Then I guess the group of 'teens' in the brightly dressed clothing are 'dancing' with McDonald's bags... among their 'cars'. Because really, in Southern California, this is how our 'teens' dress... and they totally have these types of cars... and this is what they do on a Friday afternoon and 'hang out' dancing in a parking lot. Yeah... well that's the media.

My Dad and I sat in the window looking at all of this, I guess the premis of this shoot is, to film kids 'chilling' outside a McDonalds. Dancing to some whatever music, with their McDonald's bags of food, while 'teens' walk around (like the two kids to the right were just walking back and forth from the store to their spot where they are now). However, they filmed these blueish and greenish glasses on top of the third green (rice burner) car and the 'teens' would put them on the roof of the car.... and then join the 'dancing group' all smiley and dancing.

So, I dunno. I am excited to see this commercial when it airs... to figure out what on earth were they doing. ;D Another day in southern california, I guess. ;p

After all of this, we pick up a quick dinner, and head home. Yet Jimmy had texted me, that his friend Paul was having his 22nd birthday at his house, and that Jimmyhad mentioned of my friends would be there (whom I rarely see). So I decided, that maybe I could stop by and just say Hi to the people and stay for a bit. (oh the perks of having my own vehicle, seriously)

I get there and hang out for a bit. It was actualy quite fun. Got to talk to Tim (my friend who I rarely see), see Jimmy, say Hello to his friends, meet some new people, got to have some enjoyable conversations with these new people~ and overall had some fun just hanging out. :) I even played some Rock band with Jimmy. ;D

I think however, one of the oddities of the night, was Tim... deciding to dress in a suit... in particular... a Flu Suit?!?!

All of a sudden I see this person run from the garage into the living room dressed in this white thing... to find out it's Tim! O.o; This fabulous suit cost 2 dollars... and I was told of a 'flu epidemic' in Mexico... and it may come here, yada yada yada... Tim bought it... just to wear it... and for 2 bucks... why not. It was a good laugh. ^^*

I then headed home around 9:30pm... and went to bed~ I was super tired... :)

Overall, my Friday was quite eventful.

I did not get much knitting done. I did crochet on my Granny Square on the way to LA... but no photos of that... because I left my crocheting in my car... which my Dad just took to go to a meeting a half hour ago... soooo. Yeah. I am liking it and am throughly enjoying the pattern. (It is totally relaxing! I cannot wait till I finish this! ;D)

I need to get back to my Pomatomas socks... and finish those lovelys up this week! I have 6 days and counting! Dun Dun Dunnnn ;D

Knitting has been done!

Knitting indeed has been done... by my hands... however... there have been no completed socks as of yet. >.>;

Although!!!!! I have started the heel flap on the other Pomatomus sock (not shown here), which is at home. This photo is the second Pomatomus sock... and I am half way through the last pattern repeat before the heel flap. So I should be finishing the heel flaps on BOTH socks, tonight.

My question is now... Will I be able to finish the Gussets and the rest of the Foot of the sock... before May 1st?! O.o; I dunno... I hope so... because I am in the Cookie A. KAL for her Sock Innovation book... and next month, we start with a pattern from the book! xD I am so excited!!! This pattern/sock for the KAL is 'Random acts of Cookie', so we were able to pick whatever pattern of her's we wanted to knit (besides the ones in the book).

I am liking the pattern... it's not difficult at all... just a bit daunting to look at. As for the color varriations for this yarn... it's ok. The pattern still holds true! ;D I

I've decided I am going to give these to my Farmor, who loves blue~ as a mother's day present! ^^* Also her feet are narrower then mine... so these will look cuter on her... I don't think this pattern looks cute on my feet. (Which is wierd, because I never thought as my feet, as 'wide'... but... my Dad's family has narrow narrow feet... so she shall get them! ;D) YAY!!

My first hand knit gift to the women who taught me how to knit and crochet! ;D Good stuff~

Bad stuff... I have to go back to the stupid endo-ologist to finish my root cannal. I cannot wait to walk out that door and never go back! Psh~ I am going to Jimmy's endo-ologist (along with my family) if we need work done like this. This place.... SUCKED! They wanted the FULL PAYMENT (of $1,195) right there and then... we manged with two credit cards... but omfg... we were so pissed. Jimmy's guy, monthly payments~ like normal dental offices! Seriously.

Enough rambing! Oh I am late to class!!!! I will be making an order for some knitpicks yarn today too~ while in class... >.>* lol.

Sooo I've been needing to do something with all of my Paton Grace yarn, that I tried to use to make a Roam sweater from Knitty.

So I've decied I want to try this 'Granny Square' blanket thing~ ;D For the summer, since I need something cool at night and cotton is best right?!

Here are the swatches I've done.
Left swatch is done on an US G hook... (4.25mm) Plus some 'learning mistakes' so it kinda looks a bit off.

Right swatch is done in US F hook (3.75mm) after learning what the instructions were meaning.

So apparently my teeth really love me... and dentist visits!

I finally have my braces off, I've been enjoying my new smile etc. Then I remember at my last dentist cleaning that they were suggesting I get a crown on a back tooth of mine, since its previous filling had cracked in the tooth.

Well, I am turning 22 in a few weeks, which means I will no longer be covered on my mother's insurance. Sooooo Dentist vists are go!

I have an appointment for my crown. I go in, an hour later after lovely drilling this drilling that yada yada. There is 'decay' still in my tooth... but 'opps! darn' they reached my nerve of the tooth. Sooo that means the decay lovesss my tooth so much that it didn't want to leave. Poor lonely decay... >.>;

So I have to go to an endo-ologist? this morning at 10am to get a root cannal. u.u; Keep in mind, I don't mind the dentist, I don't mind having dental work done, its chill... whatever. I am just tired of having my teeth worked on allll the time (like the braces were ugh~ non stop attention to my teeth.

However!!! I am all for these dentist visits~ as long as I don't have any pain or anything get worse~ I've had an infected tooth (first day of high school) and that was THE WORST~ ever. Swollen jaw, pain, oh the works. Now I have a gap there~ ;D (they pulled the tooth). Soo~~~ going to the Dentist isn't the most super fun thing in the world... but I'll go~ especially to keep my teeth going ok~ I do not want to go through tooth pain ever again~ *knock on wood* lol if I can help it.

What is funny though. I got my tooth all drilled and lovely at the dentist, fine, have to get a root cannal, fine... have to have a temporary crown placed on my tooth till they can get another impression done for the final crown, fine I understand a process.

Well apparently my mouth is not a fan of temp. crowns... it poped off once while she was cleaning it... ok put it on again, no problem... but then afterwards I was with my parents talking (after their officed closed) no more then an hour after the appointment... and it pops off again! for the 2nd time! xP

So I have it... and the endo-ologist would have had to remove it anyways to do the root cannal this morning... its still kind of funny... (and a bit irritating, but whatever, its not like I am without a temporary crown forever. (Also my tooth is not one big drilled into hole right now, they have filler stuff in it (think semi regular dental filling), the temp. crown is just there to help me... um have my 'old tooth back' to eat or whatever while I wait.

I guessI should start getting ready... I have a lovely morning waiting for me.

If only I could knit while they work on my teeth, that would be AMAZING~ ;p However, I think with their hands and faces all in my face...it kinda would not work out too well. ;p

I am just knitting on the Pomatomus socks whenever I get the chance... the cuffs are almost done~ then onto the complicated parts of the heel and heel turn~ ;D Fun stuff.

The photo was a battery pack that I Dad found underneath a fancy clock he bought at the thrift store. At first glace I thought, Oh, double A's taped together... but nope my Dad 'corrected' me in saying it was a different older battery pack.

But in the end... it was an 'older' battery pack... of curroded double A batteries! O.o;

Yeah... that's my brain. Still holding it together... but ooooh there is fuzz at both ends. I honestly need 8 hours of sleep a night... and I got 6 hours last night, woke up early (4am) to get work done... and it is only 10 in the morning and I am beat. U.U;

At least I finished all my homework for today. i just need to remember to really study for Geology for these quizzes and everything.

I have such a busy week it is not even funny. Plus I have a lovely (expensive!!! $900) dentist visit... and apparently insurance does not cover the 'major work' of a crown... >.>;
Honestly. so Insurance is for the 'cheap'/'small' medical/dental coverage... Why does my mommy pay for it... Hell~ she is a federal employee! This insurance is for tha' feds! wtf! ;) In reality, my mom picked the medical insurance plan that is great for her medical/doctor visits but weak on the dental.
Oh I had a point. Dentist visit to get a crown (will probably take an hour ugh) placed on one of my back teeth on Thursday... after classes.

Then on Friday I have to go to the Museum of Tolerance (super fun! Exciting! Love the place) in LA... from 2-5pm... but then at 7pm I have to be back to campus (during rush hour o.o; I am so bringing my knitting) for a Gamma Beta Phi awards ceremony for them to give me a pen for my hours I volenteered for last semester.

u.u; Sleep will eventually fall in between these areas... hopefully. I do have one last Amp energy drink in the fridge... I will probably need that later this week.

Oh! I need to get back to paying some type of attention to my lecture. heh

Aunt Jennie's socks!

So I had mentioned that I had finished my Aunt Jennie's socks and that it took me forever and a day to get them to her. (ok 2 weeks, but she lives in the same city as me, so that is forever)

Anyways~ So I went to visit her on Sunday with Jimmy~ which was super nice~... I think I talked about that already.

So! She Loved Them! xD She even started to wiggle her toes when I was taking photos! Oh she is so cute! ;D

Then when Jimmy and I were leaving.... she 'asked' "Next time Heather, make me blue socks!" I ask to clarify... light blue or dark blue... she said light blue. ;D

Soooo I have another request for mah super amazing socks!!!!! ;D lol

I am going to make an order to Knit picks some time this week or next... and am going to get some Essential Sock yarn in Mermaid colorway~ ;D I think those will be perfect... and I will most likely just do a plain ribbing sock... from the cuff to her the toes... I have yet to make that type of sock. ;D

I am just thrilled that she liked them... and asked for more! :D Anything for my little woman! ^^* <3

I don't know if Murphy's Law was in my favor... or not.. but I am inclined to say it was in my favor.

My first class was canceled today. When I came up with a lovely scheme about a tooth breaking and me being in pain and having to get a dentist appointment asap and missing class and emailing her a copy or dropping a hard copy off later today... yada yada... Only to find, if I had checked my email 10 minutes before I wrote this elaborate message... to find out that my instructor is sick (sad)... and she is canceling class for this week! xDDD

Sad she is sick... happy that the 5 page paper I was just starting an hour ago is not due after all! At least I started it and completed an APA bibliography. Some progress was done.

I am so sleepy though, because yesterday was really fun! :D Action packed, loads of driving, shopping, munching, and being with Jimmy~ :D

Got up on Sunday morning, went to pick up Jimmy, to head back to my town (we live in neighboring towns), to be there for when my brother picked up his DSi from Gamestop... to find that my brother decided that he would 'pick it up at 10am vs 9am'.... so that was a wasted yet short trip on the 101. Headed back to Ventura... to get Jimmy's DSi at his Gamestop.

Then we grabbed some Breakfast at the ever so fancy Carls Junior... and off to church. ^^*

Afterwards we went to Lane Bryant (I totally grabbed the wrong size jeans... I grabbed petite... I am 6 feet tall... I needed the average length) exchanged the jeans with no problem, thank goodness!

Then I was in a cheery mood and went shopping around Target, getting a new purse and odds and ends... and used some coupons (Oh they are so much fun!) here and there.

Once that was finished, Jimmy and I went to visit my 'little women' my Great Aunt Jennie (who I call Grandma) and hung out there for like 2 hours just chit chatting etc. :) I am so thrilled by the idea that I will be able to visit her more often on my own now. <333

After the visit, we snagged some late lunch... and back to his place... where I stayed for awhile and rested a bit (I was tired~) and waited for the 'Longest Parking Lot in CA' 101 to clear up because it was packed on the way back to my house. ;)

Came home and just went to bed~
Now... I need to finish up some papers for other classes... hurray for extra time! ^^*

So, I have a paper I need to write... and I have this crazy, out of no where, out of my mind... 'urge' to Blog.... hmmmm I honestly wondery why?! ^_^;

Sooooo... Lot has happened this past week.

Got back into gear with school... I think I am doing well... so far all my assignments have been 'good' ... I am just in the limbo land of grading of 'I can still screw it up, I have 6 weeks left' mentality. Yeah, I am going to make a great Teacher~ lol ;p At least I am critical of myself alone.

Ooooo Where do I begin~~~ Monday... day off... Tuesday... day off Ceasar Chavez Day Ole!... Wednesday... classes... Thursday... Geology... made much needed appointments for my teeth (dentist and orthodontist) and to get Boy Cat fixed...

Thursday Night... This is where the mail was good to me! ^^*

Thursday, I received a drawstring knitting bag I ordered... I loved the fabric so much I decided to buy it, verses sewing my own... I am wanting to replace the draw 'string' portion because its kinda 'meh'. Which holds my scarf lace project I am making for my Mom. :)

Thennnnn a lovely box came~ :D With some silly tape that had Knit Picks on it! So so Silly.

My Cookie A. Sock Innovation book came!!!! :DDDDDD

Love it! I had flipped through a copy of it last Sunday at Barnes N Noble... and oh I am thrilled to have my own copy to read and everything! ^^* The patterns are BEAUTIFUL! No joke! ^^* Even Jimmy was a fan of the complicated cabled white sock... whats the name...oh Bex (how simple! lol)

I also received my two circular nickel plated needles for magic loop... which I am using on my Pomatomus socks (also by Cookie A. It is part of a KAL I am doing on ravelry for her book, super fun). Along with the locking sitch markers (which are so cute and so simple, I am going to use them all the time!).

Then Friday came along~~~ now if you follow me on twitter, you may know the result... but I had my Driving Test on Friday at the DMV......

Well ya' know... I kinda sorta.... TOTALLY PASSED! xD Granted I made 8 minor mistakes total (You can only make 15 minor ones max, or 1 critical (out of 8) mistake to fail automatically). Two of my mistakes, which is so embarassing... I did California Stops!!!! Can you belive it!!! I like NEVER do them when I really drive... Oh so embarassing... so typical... so juvenille... but since I was going super super super slow (like 2 miles an hour seriously) she didn't make a big deal out of it.

So I am not a liscenced driver in California!!! :DDDD I can finally drive around in my awesome tank, called a volvo stationwagon! xDDD

First thing I did on the agenda... was to head home with Alex, pick up some lunch.

Second on the agenda... Pick up Jimmy! On my OWN! ^^* (yes I sqee-ed in the car, but at red lights)

Third on the agenda... GO TO YARN STORE!!!!!!! LYS is called Anacapa's Fine Yarns~~ I love it there, the selection is sooo nice... and the sock yarn Oh! to die for! xD

Yeah, this is totally being saved for one of my favorite patterns in Cookie A.'s book, Glynis!!!! :D Oh so pretty! Seriously~ I cannot wait for the KAL to do this sock!!!

Second and 1/2.... Stop by EB Games for Jimmy to pre-order his Nintendo DSi, which took forever, I was wanting to go to the yarn store!! *pout*

Forth on my agenda... GO SOMEWHERE!!!! :D

So I decided to go to Thousand Oaks which is like 20 minutes away or so, depending on traffic... xD Jimmy and I are always talking about how we want to go to the Oaks Mall... for several reasons. He wants to go to the Apple Store (which was seriously... omg pretty... even I was tempted by the forbidden fruit, selling Ipods is different then seeing them in use) and I was wanting to go look at everything in the mall.

Last time I went to the Oaks Mall... I was looking (and found) a prom dress... so 2005.... and seriously... that mall has changed soooooo much it is insane... but in a nice, pretty, impressive, shiney, and expensive way! They even have this Amazing theatre that Jimmy and I totally have to go to on a date later on. You can even have dinner (bought seperately) and watch a movie at the SAME TIME, with soda and popcorn included in your ticket (of a pricey $20)... and the seats are to die for! I would want them as a bed (they let us go look at the theaters, super friendly).

So... T.O. Mall... yeah... Impressive... fun trip... enjoyed it... Jimmy enjoyed it too! :) He was happy that he was finally able to play his Iphone in my car stereo (Aux Out port)... so that was fun.

Then we came home and chilled at my house~ and apparently my mom asked 'Where did we want to go eat?' and I said 'I dunno' (because I am super smart when hungry)... when in reality, we were all going out as a Family (which meant tearing Alex away from his computer playing WoW) + Jimmy... to celebrate me getting my licence!!! YAY for Me! :D So we munched at Home Town Buffet... I picked Olive Garden as a first choice... but it was so packed, it was like a convention was being held there... so Home Town Buffet was a nice alternative. ^^*

Saturday... today...

Went shopping at the mall for like 5 hours!! with my Mom. We went to Lane Bryant (love that store!) and we each got some cute outfits! ^^* Their discounts, clearance, and sales promotions are outstanding!!! We always save more then half of the regular retail price all the time! :D

Came home exhausted... Chilled a bit... and then I was being 'hinted' at by my Mother of her wanting 'something sweet'.... ie 'her bran muffins' .... then I 'discovered' that we were almost out of milk by my Dad... and was ordered by Alex 'blueberry muffins go go go' ... So I 'decided' on my 'own free will' to go to Vons... ;P Did some grocery shopping ON MY OWN!!! FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!! xDDDD Plus, it was my first time driving at night~ So that is a weeee bit different they day time driving, but it is close to home and I've done this trip a bazillion times. Then I decided to be extra fancy and go by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (*cough* better then starbucks *cough cough*) and get a Regular Carmel Latte!!! :DDDD I feel all adult like now... going to get groceries... and pick up some coffee~ which I so smart-ly poured into a thermos when I got home to keep it warm as I happily enjoy my over priced, but yummy coffee (@$4). :D

Right now I am sitting in the garage with two cats... Socks... and the Boy Cat.

Socks snuck in... but I intentionally set up in here (with lap top, soda, and some lace knitting) to sit with the Boy Cat, he was crying in the garage (ie meowing a lot) and I felt bad that he was lonely in here. He really just likes company.

I called and made an appointment to get his neutered... he is still getting into fights... and his leg is not getting better. So once he is fixed, he should *crosses fingers* stop the fighting and then maybe we can get some tips and help splinting his leg after the operation.

I know he is not our cat... but I don't want to find him dead one day... he is such a good cat. :( So hopefully this will help him. He isn't anyones cat and its better that we help him out if we can. The whole thing will be free to us... so in reality it is not a huge undertaking.

DSi Citywalk and Knitting Update

Sunday~

Went to Universal City Walk with Jimmy to the Gamestop to a DSi test event. Since Jimmy bought a lot of Nintendo games and registered them, so he reached a high membership status thing, so he got an invite to this event. So I was able to join him as his 'one guest'. :D

But we were able to walk around City Walk before we got in line, which was nice. :D This photo is where we were standing in line at the end of it. The Imax theatre is on the right and Hard Rock Cafe to the left of the photo.

Event started at 6pm, so we got in line at about 10 minutes before (there was like 4 ppl there). But we had to wait awhile, since the Nintendo Rep needed some extra time to set up. But it was a lot of fun, got some free swag and some cute photos printed from the DSi. We took most of the photos on Jimmy's Camera, so I will see about showing a few later.

Onto Knitting! :D

Finished the Toe Up Monkey, No purl socks~ :D They are not that 'snug' and I do not know if that is due to the pattern, or due to the issue that maybe I should have gone down to a US 1 vs US 2 needle.... but irregardless, I like how they came out. :)

These are the TV/Movie knitting socks I am doing, for myself. Same colorway as the socks I made for my Aunt Jennie. <3><;

This photo was taken by Jimmy when we went to Sumo:Japanese Restaurant this past Saturday for dinner. He ordered the sushi, I tried it... as seen in the photo.

He picked smoked Salmon... and Yellow Tail... I think I was trying the yellow tail.... which was tolerable... I tried half of the smoked salmon... omfg... it tasted like the smell of a well used aquarium(I worked in one for a semester two years ago... yeah the smell is distinct.... especially the seaweed).

If ever in doubt order... just get the dumplings... I did and omg they were good! ;D

Finishing the toe up monkeys today... I am finishing the second cuff ribbing... and then will do the sew off binding and will be done! ^^*

One more day left of Spring Break... bummer... but then that means there is only 7 weeks left of the semester... I guess that is tolerable... then I will have a lovely long summer break! :D

So I am excited that I am getting it, I was kinda like 'eh' on getting this book... but for that much of a price drop! Oh I had to! It was too good to pass up! :D I am excited!

Geez. I need to post something!

I am on Spring Break, and I have 'tons of free time' to blog etc. I just haven't brought myself to do it. It's kind of like having stuff pile up at work (like paperwork) and you just don't want to start... but then it starts to build up... and it is a bigger pile of work then you had before, so you have 'more of a reason' not to want to start it?!?! Yeah... I started using this genius way of thinking towards the end of last week, in terms of blogging.

I have soooo much going on (and with knitting) and to put it onto one blog entry omg... yeah that would be kinda long. So lets do this in chunks~ (Haha I just realized I have this same mentality in regards to my homework... pshh this so makes sense now ;p)

So I guess... to start...

Lets go to when Spring Break started... Thursday!~

I went to school reluctantly, wishing that I had played sick with a bad headache (which I did have all wednesday, but it went away thursday morning.. just my luck right~ ;p) and not gone. Well, I go to my first class (Geology and then the Lab)... CANCELLED! Right on the door! xD Both classes were cancelled! ^^* I even posted on facebook "Jesus loves me this I know, for he cancelled my last two classes before Spring Break" (get it... a play off of the 'for the bible told me so' song you would sing as a kid in church).

So I just chilled and knitted in the library for the rest of that morning till Jimmy got off of work and we went off campus for lunch. Went to Tony's Pizza which is DELICIOUS~ that I even called for pick up for lunch today with Alex and I.

Then there is this new soda and candy shop right next door to this pizza place... It is awesome~ Jimmy and I were all giddy about the place. So we bought this 'fancy' (in my mind) japan soda thing~ It was worth the $$$ for the experience of the soda, would I buy a pack of it to drink regularly.... no... but it was a treat. (Mine is the strawberry one of course~, the gum was his, I bought liquorice of course)

Then I went home and Jimmy went to finish his last day of classes.

I think later that day I went with my Dad for a few errands... and I finally decided I HAVE TO mail out Jon's scarf!!!! I had it done for about 2 weeks... and he lives in Seattle... and there is a mailing office by my house... so I HAD to get it done.

So I took some snapshots of it before I mailed of course. It was a bit longer then he had thought, but he is 6.4'!!! Plus he told me he wanted it to go to his hips..... long... so I made it long... hehehe... yeah... he said he didnt mind it, but he noted how it stuck out longer then his jacket (when he tucked it in from the top).... and if I knew that he was going to wear it that way.... pshh I would have made it appropriate for that! ;p Ah well... I have plans to make him a second scarf later on... so I can get it right then. xP He did wear it and he said it was warmer then his other scarf (cashmere, where as mine was acrylic, I know not wool, but these scarfs are meant to be easy to wear/clean with the washing machine, so I like it). So that was good news.

Friday I went to Vons with my brother (we're best buddies now, lol we entertain each other when we're home... its great. It took us how many years to get along finally?! ;p) to get some 'supplies' for me to make FRIED RICE~~~

I made the white rice (which I thought I was super skilled, hahaha boil water and put rice in lol, but I was proud) on Thursday night. So I need to put the stuff together Friday... this is the end result:

It is Ok... not like the stuff I buy at the take out... but like... first batch... it wasnt un-eattable... I never cooked with this type of stuff... like soy sauce~I was so tempted to buy teriyaki sauce, because that sounds yummier to me. But I didn't.... so this is going to be a learn by experience with it. I did use half of a container of fried rice for an omelet on Saturday.

I am just trying to figure out what to use white rice for as a staple ingredient for when I have non-stop classes on Tuesday, so I can eat something during the day~! Also its fun to make something~

I guess that is enough for now... I will have A TON of knitting stuff to post, including some lovely yarn pron for you to stare at~ xD I got my Junofiber Arts yarn... and OMG it is BEAUTIFUL! I am so excited! Plus I finished my pink socks (the pair) and I have some pretty good progress with the toe up monkey no purl socks (both are at the heel and I need to turn them tonight). Then I have another simple stockinette socks for tv/movie knitting. :D

Alright, I need to get started in studying for the DMV written test for my drivers permit for the THIRD time!!! So frustrating... but it is all my fault with each and every time I've had to re-take it.

1st time... never cared to practice driving, literally never used it! (then my mom got in a car accident so I wasn't eagger to get on the road myself), so that permit expired.

A few years goes buy... I get fed up in being a back seat passenger in events with Jimmy and his friends... and I am sick of being 'nervous' (which is putting it lightly) in other peoples driving. So I took my permit test, passed of course yet again.... IT EXPIRED last FRIDAY!!!! ><;

So instead of me calling the DMV to set up a Drivers test appointment (which was a goal for me to complete during spring break this week), I am instead having to schedule a written test again~ *sigh* ... and then I can schedule the driving test after I pass.... just Oi... seriously.

At least it's not like I am needing to take these tests multiple times because I failed them~ I have passed all of them, every time. It is all due to... um... me not caring enough to drive... to get this driving test done sooner! xD Oh procrastination you have done me in again! ;D lol Enough rambling... I need to study the questions for the tests. Adios~

Nom Nom Nom Twix and sock yarn~

So I finally have some photos to share~~~ nothing new... but stash knitting is always a nice surprise! ;D I have yet to figure out what patterns I want to use for my pretty pretty sock yarns... so I decided to go deep in my stash and use some of the 'cheaper' yarns for a new simple pattern. (when I cheap, I mean knit picks... and micheals sock yarn)

I decided to take some photos of my sock knitting with the twix~ both so pretty~ ;D Half of it will go to Jimmy, he had to head to class 20 minutes ago.

I decided to knit the No-Purl Monkeys sock pattern... but I wanted to do toe up~ so I kept the chart pattern the same... so instead of a normal cuff down monkey's lace pattern going in a / \ way... my lace pattern is going in the opposite way \ / . I like it~ ;D

Guess what came in the mail! xD SOCK YARN!!!!!

So Jimmy and I were chilling today... watching tv on the dvr.... we watched the finales of America's Best Dance Crew on MTV... it was good~

Then my dad came home... WITH THE MAIL!

This came in the mail~ in a lovely pink package... with all this fancy 'customs' stuff on it~ Hmm...

The sock yarn is sooooo pretty! I adore the purples, teals, blues, and greens... omg I love it!

Here are the back of the tags that came with it. I am totally keeping the tags... especially since they are both so well done! Beautiful.

Even Jimmy wanted to touch the yarn.

Jimmy was amazed in how soft this yarn was and instantly said 'Ooh! This feels nice.' and squished it... and then tried to un-wind it from the hank and I had to scold him not to do that really fast! I had yet to take photos! xD lol I <3>

But then... I don't have Jimmy around just for looks... even though he looks cute~ ;D I put him to work!

So here is the beautiful sock yarn cake! I adore it! I honestly cannot wait to start knitting with these! I am so excited! xD

But then before I forget! I finished my first toe up sock~

So I tried to have Duo help me 'model' this for me too... and she didn't have the time to. She was too busy, of course.

So here they are~ ;D Very cute... very comfy... Please excuse my sweats... I am already dressed for bed. But honestly! They FIT PERFECTLY! I am such a huge fan of toe up socks now! I already finished the toe increases of the second sock... xD It is like learing to knit socks all over again!

I really like the idea of not working a heel flap in this pattern... even with the gusset increases to form a 'heel flap' the fit is wonderful in the heel... I was able to work heel flaps and pick up stitches with no problem... but I prefer not to... and this is a fantastic alternative. :D

Ok time to go fondle some more yarn... and get some knittng done! :D Great day today, got to see Jimmy, received my sock yarn, got coffee at Coffee Bean, ate dinner with the parents and Jimmy... and more knitting~ ;D Life is good... oh wait... there is this thing called homework... darn, I knew there was a catch. ;p gnight. I seriously cannot post fast enough, to keep up with all the yarnie excitement. Oh knitting... you are wonderful~ especially with all the networking that it has. Knitting is a serious community. I never understood it when my boyfriend would talk about the 'DDR community' all the time, I thought it was kinda silly. Now I am all in love with and all over the knitting 'community'. Thank you interwebs... I love you.

Anyways~ Apparently my video is the MOST AMAZING thing on EARTH! TOTALLY! It is seriously up there, next to sliced bread... lol jk. But what is good is that my Norwegian Purl video is helping a lot of knitters out there... and enjoying the purling aspect of knitting. <3>

Love the podcast, love the chum, huge fan of it all. So when I submitted my video to Adminnie about the idea of them sharing it... I was replied back (from Adminnie ;D) of 'You. are. a. goddess' in excitement of this method... now if I could get the goddess title verses a docterate that would be so much better... and cheaper. ;p

Which as allowed a lot of hits on my video~ I checked how many I had before it was posted on the Chum... my view hits increased by over 1 thousand! InSaNe!! xD I am also getting questions repeated about how I do this or how I do that... so I may have to make a few more videos (I know I've said that before... but school has been so busy, so it may be awhile). But Iam thrilled by the responce I have been getting! :D I feel so lucky~

What is interesting too, is that my video is being cross posted by other knitting websites.... such as this one:

Whipup.net... I have never heard of this site before... but it seems amazing~ ;D It seems to be an all around hand crafting site (and I've gotten a lot of youtube hits from that site too! it can show you where your video is getting linked too and how often it's used) which is great because I am all in love with teh knitting and teh crocheting... but my mom bought me a small sewing machine... which I have been dieing to use... and no ideas what to do... so this might be a great source for inspirations for that too! ;D (along with teh kniting and crocheting.)

I soooo want to learn how to spin yarn, idealy a spinning wheel... but yeah... college student... kinda don't have the funds to afford that type of crack~ But one could dream.

I bought some sock yarn from her this week and am patiently (kinda sorta not really lol) waiting for it to come. Not like I have enough sock yarn already... but that's besides the point.

I want to learn how to use a drop spindle.... but like... I would need a whole new set of supplies for the most part, one being a drop spindle... I kinda like the drop/bottom ones... I think... the one you move across your leg to spin.

I submitted my norwegian purling video to the Daily Chum, on the idea of Jimmy suggesting it to me. xD I never thought of it. I am getting even more emails/comments etc about the video. :D I am happy about that. I am getting a lot of the same questions... so I may have to do some more videos explaining stuff. Also there are some videos that I have watched, to learn... and oh boy... I just want to re-do them. ;P

Sooooo... I bought this a week or so ago... kinda forgot about it... because I had bought yarn last week (which totally takes over the brain).

Socks was excited about my package too... she actually was chewing the edges.

My WoW Figuring came in the mail!!! xDDD <3>

So~ I bought it. Alex had bought the Dranie Mage and that was soooo pretty omg... that I had kinda wanted the Priestess.... and bought it! xD

My figure is so much smaller then the dranie... but like in the game... that is the case... I was just hoping for it to be taller etc. But it is sooo pretty!

SEEEEE So pretty. The detail is sooo impressive Omg. I also loveee the shoes lol I would totally want a pair lol, I wouldn't care if I was another 4-5 inches taller~ xD

The bottom 'fabric' is so pretty in how it 'moves'. I also adore the wings! xD

Then there is a weapon/ax on the figure I didn't know about! xD Kinda creepy face... but still cool all around.

Then topic change... from WoW pretty-ness.... to Boy Cat! Yes, we call him Boy Cat.... because... he is not our cat, but kinda the male that roams around the neighborhood. Since we have 3 female kitties... he liked our house... then he would eat the cat food we would leave out for the cats during the day (until the chickens found out they could eat it too... now we dont leave food out... stupid chickens).

ANYWAYS. Boy Cat.... we have been letting him in the house at night, because it has been so cold and to give him a few hours rest of napping in the living room... plus he likes to meow/cry for attention, so we brush etc. Also, he gets banged up a lot for being a boy kitty... and they fight.

Well apparently Boy Cat... got really hurt during the night (because he was fine yesterday night) and is hopping around minus a functioning paw. :(((((( He is not walking at all on his front left paw (the one that is bent). Now granted we have seen this boy have blood on the ear, scratches, puss (yea ewww) and a whole lot of limping... but never where he would not walk on it. :(

So we kept him in the garage today... door closed... with food and litter box (god I hope he uses it ><:) so he can rest and see about getting better. :(((( We are hoping it not anything serious, beside a strained/pulled paw... because... kitties are expensiveeeee to fix legs at the vet. :( So we will see. I hope he better when I get home.

Other then that... LOOK AT THE PRETTY BOY CAT! xD He is so cute, he has rolled onto his back before and looked adorable.... he is such a boy~ ;D

So I finished my Geology lab quiz~ and that is all we had to do for the class.

I felt pretty proud of myself in figuring out this calculation thing we had to do for plotting the movement of a planet on this circular chart. I thought it was dividing but then I figured out it was multiplication... and after I turned in my quiz, I checked my notes and I was right! xD

So I think I did really well! So I decided I wanted a smoothie (called very berry)... and I could enjoy it for my now 30 minute break before my next class.

So I decided to take some photos of the progress I have made on the sock. I want to take some photos of it on, it doesn't look as freakishly long then. But then Jimmy came and visited me in the coffee shop and 'interrupted' my photo 'shoot'.

But now I actually have to wrap this up and head to class... and be bored. Ah well. :D

(side note: yes Jimmy is double jointed.... it creeps me out at times when he claps with one hand ><: uck lol but I still love him.)

I didn't note that I am now finishing the leg portion of my toe-up sock... so that means that I had completed the heel.... yesterday~ and oooo to I like the fit and look of the heel flap/gusset in the toe- up pattern. :D

In three days.

Friday (there are no classes on Fridays):

I had to get the oil changed and the 4 belts replaced in my volvo (240 DL 1989).

My brother tagged along... and we prepared for at least an 1 hour and a 1/2 wait (turned out to be close to 2 and a 1/2 hours, there were 4 belts, when they thought there were 3 belts). So we bunkered down at Starbucks, by the BreakMasters.

Alex played Crono Trigger, on his Ds, and I brought my toe up sock knitting! :D

I made some progress.

Finished the day by a few more errands... went home... and chilled for the rest of the day. Very nice Friday.

Saturday:

I went to a BBQ event at Port Huneme Navy Base with my parents. My Mom's work was hosting the BBQ for the Coast Guard in passing some field test they had to do with a new ship that they are making.

Food was yummy.

The tour of the new ship was the real event~ (this is a small ship, especially on some of the ones I've been on).

I couldn't get the entire ship in one photo... so this is just the middle of it.

This is the front of the ship... we were not allowed to take photos inside. I am facing the bridge, which is located at the black windows above me.

This is the close up of the 'gun' on the front of the ship. It can move a full 180 degrees and shoot I believe 2 shots in 5 seconds. They were testing it out that morning and had a few kinks to work out in it. The bottom square is the 'lens/camera' , the long black is the cannon, and then the gray circle is the radar for it. All automatic. Pretty impressive. It looks like something I would see out of 007 on the N64 (video game)

Then this guy was just an extra treat. Since were in the harbor on base... we got to see the dredging take place in the harbor. This guy was massive! It would go into the water and pull out excess sand collected at the bottom, then move it to the resovoir to the left of it. Then the left over sand and such would be dumped on the beach (where it came from lol), all to keep the harbor deep enough for the naval ships. It was fun to watch. I have video of it.

Then after the BBQ event, I went to see Slumdog Millionaire with Jimmy and his grandparents. Oh my goodnes... that movie... it is a great movie... but the harsh reality of it was aweful. I belive it deserved the 8 ocsars it won.

Sunday:

Went out with my brother... and I drove his new car... OMG it is soooo nice to drive. It is a wonderful mix between my mother's mini van and my volvo 'tank'/stationwagon. I adore driving his car around town.

We picked up Jimmy, and Matt (he wanted to come to), and went to church. I almost did not want to go, I wanted to keep driving.... I even took a 'scenic route' to the church lol.

Went back to Jimmy's. I made lunch (grilled cheese and soup). Then Jimmy and I watched P.S. I Love You which is such a sadddd but heartfelt movie~ I liked it! I am so happy Jimmy has netflicks. :D

Later that afternoon, my parents brought me my car (they wanted to see how the belts were, when driving) and we went to do some errands (milk, etc). So I came home when it was dark, and was greeted with a lovely surprise!! :D

I am also excited because I have another etsy yarn purchase coming my way soon. :D My reasoning for more yarn... is that I just finished projects, so I 'deserve' it. lol

School has been/is stressful. Yarn/Knitting helps. <3

She went after a specific skein of sock yarn 3 times yesterday and grabbed it in her mouth and ran out of my room with it. An entire skein! ... I finally took the skein and put it on a shelf... and she was puzzled as to where that sock yarn was, when she was in the box looking for it.

I swear... this kitten... none of the other cats had an interest with my yarn as is, unless I made them a toy. Here, Socks loves it. I guess her name suited her after all.

Then wake up and work on a knitting project... while listening to pod-casts. This pod cast is the knit-picks community site, most of the content is worth listening to... sometimes not.

I wish there were just as many lime and violet podcasts, in comparison to the knit picks... in how frequently they are posted. But either way~ I love pod casts.

I need to start finishing up some audio books I have collected from librivox.

Jimmy offered to get me something from the coffee shop (in the library) and I said a smoothie 101 (its a mixture of yummy smoothie fruit stuff) and he got me the large size!! I was so impressed, I decided it was 'photo worthy'

Actually I am excited. I have been wanting to do a pair of socks toe up, foreevvveerrrrrrr. Now I have finished enough projects that I think I can have some time to start it.

I've had this yarn since oh, last fall... I bought the same type of colorway in a gray-blue/white for my dad's socks. (check my ravelry for photos) With this type of colorway, it will just be a mesh of pink and white stitches, so if there are any mistakes (god forbid lol) you cannot notice anything, nor even any type of fancy pattern.

I AM EXCITED!! :D I want to go home already and my day has only just started. I have a full day of classes non stop from 9am to 3pm. Boo.

The plushies I bought at Anime Expo last year~ The first items I bought and they even came with 'limited edition pins' xD So they are sooo cute, they are the mascots of the con.

This is a selection of the manga I have. I have several spread about my room. 3/4th of this was bought at AX, and the .hack and time stranger manga I bought at the book store on campus! ;D I want more~ I just need to finish reading them.

I have FINALLY finished my Mom's socks. I started the blue wool ones a few days before Christmas. Then the Patons sock yarn in mid January.

I am so happy to have these pair of socks off the needles~

I've been making some serious progress on my Aunt Jennie's Patons Stretch Sock's. :D She has the same size foot as my mother so that works out perfectly! ;D

On To The Photos!!!

These socks are made from Knit Picks Palette in Marine Heather, on 2.25mm / 2US needles.

I've had this problem with the other Patons socks for my mom. For some odd reason... I knit the socks the same length, I even count to the same rows from the gusset to the toe decreases, so they match perfectly.

But then I have two different end amounts of the same size balls of yarn?!?!?

I don't understand. Maybe I should re wind the left over balls of yarn to see if they are the same, maybe I was tense when I was using the ball winder.

Then to the photos of the Patons Stretch Sock yarn in Olive colorway, in 2.25mm / 2US needles.

My Mom loves these socks! As soon as I put them on her to take these photos and she wanted me to keep them on! :D

What I like most is that my mother has been wearing these socks any chance she gets! She even wore them this morning! ;D I have yet to ask if she has worn the wool socks, but those are meant for her to wear at night in bed, when it is cold. :D

My classes just keep piling up more and more assignments each week. It doesn't help that I have most of my classes meeting one day a week. So there isn't much 'class time' in reviewing what is due or to spend time working on the assignments.

I have to put more work into my classes verses working on stuff the day/night before... or worse yet the morning of it is due.

However, things are starting to become more of a schedule which I guess is a good thing.

I haven't gotten much knitting done at all the past few days. It is school, home, sleep pretty much every day. Alright I have to head out.

I had a wonderful Valentines day~

Which involved lots and lots of shopping~ including pretty clothes, shine-y things, pretty smelling things, ABSOLUTELY delicious food, and a day with Jimmy.

Went to the mall with my parents, my dad to run errands (get watches fixed, bank stuff etc. and my mom to go shopping with me at Lane Bryant (awesome store, it has my height/size in clothes issue and the sizes for mah mommy~) as we do together. However, we mixed Jimmy into the mix and dragged him with us to the mall~ xD

After spending... about 735 dollars in clothing, and only paying~~ $90!!!!! (clearance there is absolutely insane, plus all the savings stuff they do and mail out~ omg)... buying some jewelry, some Victoria's Secret lotion (and this cute little hair brush/mirror compact omg genius!) (I had a giftcard to use, normally I am eh with the store, but the lotions smell soooo pretty), etc~

5 hours later!!! (Yeah seriously)... 5 Hours later, we are done and heading out. Jimmy and I head home and are greeted with the MOST AMAZINGLY YUMMY DINNER! Steak (omg and his grandfather makes the best meat EVER!), green beans, corn, some awesome mash potatoes thing his family makes, with super yummy cookies and icecream, which I passed sadly, I had to leave.

So yeah... I am going to sleep sooooooo well tonight... no joke. :D

I have tons of cute outfits~ I am so happy! ;D Oh and I wore the red shoes Jimmy bought me and oh they are comfy~ and adorable~ I am thrilled.

Today was great~ I enjoy days like this~ Also figuring out the math of 'how much you saved' is always a fun game to play once you get home~ It is seriously insane how over priced these clothes get. Anyways~ enough rambling~ I had a white chocolate mocha latte thing before heading home.

This~ is the new sock that I was talking about~ I am so thrilled to have a new pair of socks to know!

Granted that I still have my mom's socks to finish~ but that is just 2" in the foot and then the decreases. I already finished one so I have my model for the other 3 socks. ;D

These are soooo pretty~ I adore the color. They are for my Aunt Jennie~ who complains that her feet are cold at night. So this is a light cotton/wool blend, so that it is machine washable. Hopefully they can keep her feet warm~ :) <3 I even bought two extra skeins for myself, so she can I can have matching pairs~ (she is getting up there in age 80+, so this is something she and I can have together~ <3)

The broken rib pattern is perfect in that it is a k1,p1 one row and then knit the next row. I know this yarn can either stripe or pool, and I do not want either really. So I am a fan, plus it has a smaller size of CO 54 which will help with my Aunt Jennie's little feet! ;D

KNITTING HAS BEEN DONE!

I needed something with instant gratification~ Plus I wanted to knit with sock yarn~ ;D

So I made a camera sock for Jimmy's camera. (This is my brother's camera, but Jimmy and him have the same camera, except Jimmy's is silver and Alex's is blue).

So this yarn is left over Knit Picks Kettle Dyed Jay Essentials yarn. I used this yarn for Jimmy's socks, so it worked out in making him a camera sock too! ;D

Very simple project, very cute result. I hope he will like it.

I am pretty positive I passed my CBEST, which is good news.

I finally have the correct size in those red shoes I got from Jimmy. ^^; 11's normal width.

It's been raining on and off and in waves etc. I have tons of photos along the PCH on the way back from my testing, beautiful view! <3 the coast!

Saw Coraline in 3D, and I liked the movie. There were parts that creeped me out... but that is why I had Jimmy there (and his arm to squeeze).

Time to go to bed now... I do not know what is up tomorrow.

Oh Alex got a new car (1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue in a beautiful deep red, *jealous*!) which means that the Volvo is MINE! xD

This article is mostly about how most colleges are cutting back in admissions, and due to the state budget cuts, they (at least my school) cannot afford the amount of freshmen that want to come in.

At least with my school, we cannot afford the expansion of the campus, we are still a small college in comparsion to most CSU's.

This will however boost admissions of students to go to local community colleges (which is not a bad thing!) and finish their GE courses there and then transfer in to the CSU's or UC's. Which in the long run will allow students to not have as much debt once they finish with college all together. It is just a different way of doing things.

I went to the Community colleges first and trasnfered... Alex went straight to CSUN... I will have less debt to pay back then he will... but he will have a better credit score due to the amount of money he has barrowed. So it's a toss up, but regardless both are not terrible.

I heard Heather passed her Social Science/ History part of her CSET.

So that just means she has two parts left to take in her CSET.

But she is taking her CBEST this Saturday, so hopefully she will do well. That Cliff notes book has been on the floor for the past week, I know because my favorite toy is behind it.

So yeah. Kudos to Heather... maybe she will get me more cat treats, we have been kind of low recently.

Now this semester~ I think I will actually study more~ ;D Due to the lovely book holder device.

I tried the typical, lay on the bed and read type of studying... and yeah, was not working well. Yet with this way! I can sit straight up~ have the book open for me... and I can relax and work on some sock knitting!

Talk about two birds with one stone~ ;D It's prefect! This is the second pair of my mom's socks... I want to get them done already~ It seems forever that they've been on my needles... which was a bit before christmas when I started. However, I will be so thrilled when I will have all four socks done at once~ ;D

Ok not really look 'mom' but the attention of the intensity of 'LOOK' is close.

Finally got some more sock knitting done. This is the second sock of the pair for my mom. The first sock is just at the end of the gusset worked. So I am trying to get these socks done together at the same time.

I switched back to dpns after the feel flap, mostly because I find the gusset work to be a bit too fiddly for my taste when I get to the heel flap. But then as soon as that gusset is done! Back to Magic Loop ASAP~ ;D

These stitch markers were part of packages from the Fall yarn swap I joined (Oh I loved my partner!). They are from threeirishgirls.com so I am loving them. I never really use stitch markers for my sock knitting... but then I remembered I had this! So now, I don't have to have a post-it folded with one side saying Knit All and the other K2tog & SSK to flip back and forth every row. (I have two of these post its, one in my knitting bag and one at home) Now I can just work the gusset anywhere and not have to worry about a paper or where I stopped last! ;D

Going to a friends 22nd birthday party tomorrow at BJ's... I am looking forward to it somewhat but then eh... but I don't see some of these people that often (especially the birthday boy lol). So it will be alright, plus I will have Jimmy. :D

Jimmy went to an arcade in Simi Valley tonight... he asked if I would like to go... I said no thank you. I had knitting to get done! ;D Plus I worked a few cables into Jon's scarf today too. Very relaxing day today.

The water here is a 'reflection pool'. It's pretty and everything... but I want to swimming~~ in it~... but its like 4 inches deep I think, tops~. So its just for looking at.

Burt's Bees Shimmer

Best stuff ever!!

I decided to buy one, since I've eyed them at our schools book store. Plus I gave Jimmy a Burt's Bee hand salve... and that stuff is working amazingly on his hands! They were super dry on top.

So I thought, well if they have great hand stuff... then their lip stuff must be great (plus I knew people in high school that used it).

Seriously, trying this stuff on your lips is an experience! No joke! There is peppermint oil in it, so the first thing I felt was the mint and it was ting-gly on my lips! Plus I could totally smell it! xD I like me some peppermint!

Then the color (I bought Rhubarb) is perfect! ;D It is similar to the loreal thing I have, but more casual looking~ ;D Which is what I want in a lip balm~ I have the fancy stuff for fancy events.
I am a huge fan of this companies stuff~ My lips feel wonderful when I put this on. Now granted it came off when I ate lunch (you can see the color on the napkin) but honestly... duh~ its lip balm! ;D I love it~

This lip shimmer was a major high light for my day... that and I finished my two papers before 6:30am. So that was good too~ ^^*

I am excited~ Today after school~ I get to see my new shoes! Oh I hope they fit, because I cannot wait to wear them~ if they dont fit, we will have to send them back and try another size (I am thinking if anything, they may be too big, some 11's fit me perfectly and sometimes they are too long... so we will see! xD)

I think I am going to knit... verses study right now... I was wanting to start knitting my Aunt Jennie's socks soon. So I need to get these two pairs off the needles (3 out of the 4 are at the heel turn) and get started on my Aunt's pair~ Also its pink! So pretty!

My brain is done. I've been sleeping tons lately... at least 8 hours and it is so great. I usually hit the hay at around 8-9 pm the latest and wake up at around 6:30am. Which honestly is quite nice!

Except, yesterday, I woke up at 4am to complete a paper... turned out rather well, I was proud of it. Then I went back to sleep for another hour till six.

Today, I have to wake up and complete 2 papers... but these are about a page or so each... so that is much simpler.

Yet, I feel sooo drained right now. Maybe I am getting sick... the back of my throat was very scratchy and hurt yesterday. Plus it has been dreadfully cold as of late... ok 50's... to us that is cold with an additional wind chill factor.

I just feel awful really right now. Sore and acky... no I cannot be sick... not now. I can be sick on Friday... and the rest of the weekend. But I have today and tomorrow with classes. Luckly they are just a few classes nothing hard core or anything. Hmm... I do have the lecture quiz in my geology class... boo. I need to study for that.

Edu 510 = Reality sucks

I went to my first class, for this course today... and dear god, it depressed me.

She basically gave us the run through of (she loves special ed) the reality that is out there for a multi-subject credential and the special ed credential.

No jobs out there for multi-credential... jobs for special ed.
No intern for mutli, interns for special ed.
The list went on and on.

The thing is, I do not! want to go into special education. That is something I do not want to do for my career, I cannot handle special ed, emotionally etc. I know that it is a great field and the need is high, more pay at times etc.

It is just that there are little to no jobs out there for a multi-subject (K-6th) in California... and has not been for about 2 years. Now I know we are in an economic down slide at the moment and I have 2 years till I would have completed my BA and Credential.

But what really concerns me is that, I have 5 years after I graduate with my preliminary credential to 'clear' it to an official credential. Which part of that requirement is to teach for 2 years, not substitute or do part time teaching... full on have my own classroom for 2 whole years. Well, what if I cannot find a teaching job in that time?! Will the education situation in California, especially So Cal be fixed in two years... when I graduate... or will it be worse?! Tons of districts are lay off hundreds of teachers. I just am at a loss really.

I am so bummed out... I knew that the reality of being a teacher was one thing... but to not even get the job is another. I've wanted this since I was 5, to have my own classroom and be a teacher.

I just want to knit... I am too stressed out... listening to pandora and sock knitting will help. I need to keep on track with my knitted projects.

I got a little vain earlier and took photos with my phone.

Plus I found my Loreal infallible lipcolour, so I am thrilled about that. I was so bummed that I lost it... and it was in the mini van. psh... typical I leave it there.

I went with Jimmy (and I drove with him in the car! yay!) to his church Catalyst today. Oh that church was snazzy in how it was set up and decorated. One downside... seats sucked... they were these wooden fold up chairs with a thin soft thing on top... yeah didn't help.

Then I decided... My job! to knit comfortable seat cushions! They seriously need them.. >.>; or at least my butt does lol.

Speaking of butts! We saw a butt crack! Total plumbers crack! FROM THE GUY IN FRONT OF US! Some skinny white guy... with no butt when he stood up... apparently could not realize that his toosh was exposed. o.O; That was certainly something I did not expect to see at church. Over all I liked the church.

Then Jimmy and I had lunch, the tre tre gourmet Taco Bell. Some coffee (for me) and some milk tea boba (for him). Then we went shopping around that area.

I bought a pair of pretty pink pearl earrings by Holly Yashi

and an angel figurine,

from this new age store that I always visited when I was in high school.

Afterwards we went to Blockbuster and they were having a sale on buy 3 (used) dvds for $20! So I bought, Nancy Drew (the newest one), Sex and the City:The Movie (I haven't seen it and am a semi fan of the series), and Made of Honor.

So I spent a fair amount today~ (about $40)... but Iam seriously pleased~ :D

What would have made it better is if I had yarn mixed in there... but alas the world is not perfect and yarn stores are not in every shopping area. *le sigh*

Time to get some stuff situated for school tomorrow. Plus I need to order these text books already. >.<;

First purse, now shoes!

This time around, I am not the one doing the purchasing~ ;D

Since Jimmy got back, we exchanged gifts. I bought him the World of Warcraft Legends books and two t-shirts. ^^*
He bought me, a Roxy clutch (which is perfect for holding my fun reading books in my backpack and or purse, no bent edges!) bag, a scrapbook designed to be filled in for couples (aww <3), some Obama memorabilia from his trips to DC this winter, and a pair of adorable roxy shoes! One down side, but not a problem at all~ the shoes are too small. He ordered a size 9 and I wear a size 11, so of course they were a bit snug. But I loveeeddd the design. So he is going to send them back to Zappos.com (they have free shipping back and forth for shoes, as many times you need) and basically said I get the credit of the shoes and pick something nice from the site for myself! xD So I picked theseeeeeeeeee~

The red is absolutely adorable!!!!!!!! I never spend this much on a pair of shoes, but Jimmy wanted me to get something 'nice' when I was asking if I could buy two video games from the site (they have everything on this site!). So I picked out these lovely shoes! ;D

I ordered a size 11 wide shoe... and what is great is, as I mentioned before, the free shipping back and forth, so if it is a bit too loose, I can send it back no problem! (Just have to wait a bit of course). So I am very happy, because I remember I read about this shoe brand awhile ago, in that they had wonderful shoes (and fashionable ones) that were very comfortable.

Tomorrow, Jimmy and I are going to go on a date and hang out at a shopping center, have lunch, window shop at Barnes n' Noble, Micheals (He wants yarn for his sackboy doll I am going to knit him *crosses fingers*, luckly they posted the pattern online for free), Kohls, Gamestop, have some Jamba Juice (I have giftcard with a little bit on it), and then have dinner at Macaroni Grill (he got a gift card for it on Christmas). ^^* So I am extremely looking forward to tomorrow. It will be nice. Hopefully it doesn't rain too badly.

School has started

So today is my second day of classes. Which is a-ok really.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I watched the Presidential inauguration with Jimmy in our library. There were a ton of people. I have photos, but don't have my laptop with me to upload them (ie sd card reader).

I was late to my Geology 300 class... but that is fine. Lecture is lecture and the powerpoint is online. Then the lab was fine. I think I will enjoy that class.

Then I went to my Edu 510 class... Child Diversity/Multi Culture, etc. That will be an interesting class. We are required to go to the Museum of Tolerance (in LA) for the class, which I am excited about! I have not been there since oh I think 8th grade and even at that age it was so moving (plus so sad =( so sad). But that will be in April.

This morning I went to my Edu 320 class, Intro to Teaching... I think it will be a simple class (not simple in material, but in effort from me) so that is nice. The teacher is humorous which helps.

Next (at 3pm) I have my Historian's Craft class... we will see how it goes. I hope it is not so paper oriented in grading... because he is difficult to write papers for, in that he likes/grades nicer to papers similar to his own opinion. So what can you do, I've had him before in a basic history class.

I spent an hour today (waiting for Jimmy to get out of work for lunch) looking online at cheaper prices for my text books. So even with the cheaper books, I did the math and added up the estimated total:

$380 dollars!!!!! For 10 books! ><;

Some of these text books, are for sale at the book store for like $130 and I am getting them online for $60-$80... so like I am saving pretty pennies really. Ugh, I just dislike how expensive these books are, regardless that I have financial aid to compensate for these.

No has ever said College is cheap~ ;P

I am going to go relax or something, I just feel so tense right now.

Oh, I haven't done much knitting as of late. I knit 3 rows in my mothers sock in my purse today, during a class break. Other then that, nothing much. :(

Spending monies

Is such an issue for me... however, when it is so cheap! ;D I am not too concerned.

So yeah. Went to Target today with my brother to get some more cat food.

But then I went into Target, I remembered that I had a dream last night that my brother and I were looking at their purses/huge tote bags, in pretty green colors! Now granted, Alex has never tagged along with me to look at purses... better yet in my dream he was buying makeup too. So yeah. I went and looked at the purses.

Then I noticed that a huge amount of them were on clearance! xD (I love the turn around on their items!) Then I saw this pretty pretty green bag. Now, I do have a Coach black tote back~ which I ADORE~ but there are times when I wish it was a bit bigger and or not a Coach purse ($$$$$) because then I worry about where I put it, like I do not ever put it on the floor, or on the edge of a chair, so I always have to have it hanging on my knee as I sit at places and at the movie theatre it has its own seat.

So then looked at the price of this pretty pretty green purse... 6 BUCKS! xD SOoOoooo cheap! Then I realized it was about the same size/depth as the Coach but a bit longer... so then I thought hmmm... SI! I want this!

So as soon as I got in the car I switched everything out from the ever so lovely Coach into this. This is going to me my random-I-can-throw-it-around-in-the-car-at-the-movies-place-on-the-floor-casual purse! ;D Also... with the added length... I can put my knitting in it easier!

Plus it holds a lot of stuff too! :D My sock knitting fits in a corner of this purse... verses taking half of it in the Coach purse. (The sock knitting is in a small black canvas bag) I also can even feel ok in placing a blueberry scone in the bag... where as the Coach... yeah not so comfortable with the idea.

Then for the knitting aspect of this blog...I realized... why I liked the purse so much when I saw it.

To me it is a mix between purses.... knitting purses~ oooo
It is a mix between Jordana Paige's Bella bags, because I did love the crossing pattern on the front, but did not fall in love with the narrow-ness size. (Nor the price whew!)

Then a crossover, with the color of the Namaste Malibu Bags in the color Olive.

I do however love the peacock color in this bag too... but... green is one of my colors~ ;D I love it and it loves me. Also this bag is supppppeerrr expensive. I love knitting and all, but I also like not being broke. >.>;

Soooo~~~

I am very pleased with my nice purchase of a new hand bag~ :D (Especially the price) So I guess my dream was helpful after all... hmm maybe I should have Alex buy me make up... maybe that's what it meant. ;D lol Maybe I should convince him to change his career path from a Mechanical Engineer to a Make up Artist! ;D haha. yeah no.

Alright gotta go, I have things to do before I leave for LAX to pick up Jimmy. :D His grandparents are picking me up later so we can all go together!!! ;D YAY~ I finally get to see Jimmy! 2 months is tooooo long. <3

These fingerless gloves were a pain in you know where... the organization of the pattern, made much to be desired.

I am mostly pleased in that I have finished these. I certainly do not hope that my mom's co workers will not ask me to to make them a pair also. >.>; I realized through this project... I am capable of doing charts and cables... but I am not a huge fan of the complexity of the cables.

Now back to my sock knitting... oh wait... I have Jon's scarf to work on... that will be my at home project.

I decided to do the palindrome scarf pattern again... the previous pattern became too wide where if the scarf is not 'flexible' enough I would not deem it wearable, even if he says he has a 'thick' neck. Then palindrome scarf will suit his neck by the thickness. :) Also... SUPER EASY 2by2 ribbing. ;D

Also I watched Knitty Gritty today... (re runs of course) and oh my gosh! Cookie A was on and they showed how to do a sock from the toe up!~ I SERIOUSLY have to try that. The next pair of socks I will make (after I finish up these two pairs) will be toe up for me~ ;D I can totally do the toe up thing after watching that episode, I saved it on the DVR. ^^*

So this is what I did this morning. Sat at my desk... listened to (most of ) the Lime and Violet podcast... they are super long in length... which is a great thing... but after awhile I turn it off to focus on either the pattern... or something else. I will finish it tomorrow. :) Hopefully I will finish up the fingerless glove cable pattern tomorrow morning, when I set up again like this.

I finally bought a book holder/stand as you can see in the photo here. I bought it at the CSUN bookstore when I went there with Alex. They have the exact same one at my bookstore (CSUCI), but it is like 10 dollars or so?! Here it was about 5 bucks, I couldn't pass that up. ;D So now I can have books (with patterns or text) open up while I knit and possibly do this wondrous thing called, knitting and reading at the SAME TIME! xD (I <3 audio books too lol)

So it is time for me to crash for the night soon. I have to put the last load of laundry in the dryer... then settle in. I majorly cleaned up my computer desk (which is to the right of this photo, I use this little desk (in photo) because my normal desk is such a mess and full of clutter). So hopefully I can organize my desk well enough before school starts (next tuesday, 20th) and then get started on the process of making my new desktop computer. xD

Oh one last thought, I seriously LOVE living next to the coast. I just went outside to close the gate and I can so clearly smell the salt from the ocean/beach. Like it smells as if you were to smell a sea shell in your hands with bits of sand in it. :) I seriously do not want to leave the coast... I will do whatever it takes to stay in this area. ^^* I love my oxnard~ lol

I have my iced coffee... in hand.. yummy caramel and I think I am going to do some knitting today!

Yesterday I did not knit one stitch, but instead played (and finished!) Professor Layton and the Curious Village on my Nintendo Ds.

Today... I think I will focus on finishing my mothers fingerless gloves. If I do not get those done soon... I will never get them done.

I have been working on her socks though. The 1st of the blue wool socks, I turned the heel and finished the gusset. The 2nd blue wool sock, I just casted on recently and am finishing the cuff.

The two Patons olive colorway socks, are at the heel flap portion.

So I am trying to keep it all... kind of worked together, so in the end I have 2 complete pairs! ;D

These are the yarns that I bought at Micheals that were half off!

I kinda think, mix rastia sock yarn from knit picks and the color from tofutsies... and you got this yarn. ;D Luckly, I like both of the previous yarns... and these were on sale! ;D

It was normally 5 bucks a skein... but half off makes it 2.50... which makes it 2 of these for 10 dollars! xD So I spent total of 20 dollars on this yarn when it should have cost me normally 40 dollars! Also the colorways dye lots are the exact same! ;D

I am thrilled though, about the bottom four (colorway Sugar) in that this was the yarn I was thinking of when I should have been sleeping before my CSET. But when I got to micheals I was lucky enough to see that there were 5 skeins left and that these 4 all had matching pairs in dye lots! xDDD So I bought my 4 skeins and was very pleased with myself.

Now all I need to do is wait for Red Heart and Sole sock yarn... to go on sale >.>; lol

Oh the colorways, the top left is call Mineral (for me, blue is pretty), and then the top right is Plum (also for me! ;D). Then the bottom for is called Sugar.

Which is going to be a pair of sleeping in socks for my Aunt Jennie, Pink is her favorite color... and she fell and beat her self up (she had a black eye!) lol tangled up in her night gown, trying to keep her feet warm... and fell when trying to get out of bed. She was fine, this women has the tumbling gene. But I thought why not maker my <3 Aunt Jennie a pair of socks to keep her feet warm! ;D Then I thought about making a matching pair for myself, so when she does pass away (she is in her mid 80's *crosses fingers) eventually I can have something I made for her... and a coresponding pair for myself, to think of her even more when I miss her. Aw geez, I am tearing up thinking about it. I love my Aunt Jennie, she is my 3rd Grandma! (She is my Great Aunt, but I have called her Grandma since I can remember, because she raised Alex and I when my parents worked <3333 awesome women)

Alright. Alex wants to go get breakfast, at McDonalds (oh we are so healthy)... I had a bowl of cereal... I think I will just get a large iced coffee... that stuff is so good!

So I've taken about 2 practice tests.... for the CSET... and I am getting scores that are borderline 57% to 61% (off by one question!) for each section.

Ideally, you want to get at LEAST 60% for each section (2 sections, LA and Hist) and then 2 (out of 3)'s on each of the essay (4 total). to pass.

220 points out of 300.

I am borderline between the not passing and passing. u.u;

I do not wish to take this test again... but I worry I may have to. Granted the test is 52 Multiple choice Questions (26 each) and then 4 essay (2 for each section). So it is not pain painstakingly long.... but some of these questions are ridiculously detailed.

Here is a fun sample:

A first-grade teacher notices that one of her students is struggling with reading. He is in the lowest achieving reading group and the teacher has tried some strategies to improve his reading, but he seems to not make any progress. What are the next steps the teacher should take in working with this student?

Answers:

- - - I originally thought, ok... in a realistic situation... D is probably the most P.C. way of doing it.... and can in reality be done. I just took a course in Second language acquisition in how peer groupings can benefit the students in learning yada yada.

Well guess what the answer is........ A!

Yeah.... seriously. Because when I have a classroom of 30-35 first graders.... I have time to assess his reading to meet the exact skill needs. Plus keep anecdotal records of his reading skills.... and of course parents alwaysssss have the time to assist, when both parents are working and get home close to 6pm and bed time is 8pm.

Also I have yet to even go into the history and social science section. u.u; I don't even want to go into that one.

I should get ready for bed honestly. The test is at 7:15am tomorrow... I have about a 45 minute drive to get there... so I am leaving at around 5:30am (waking up at 5am) and having breakfast by the high school (which apparently on google maps is in the middle of no where. u.u; oi).

So my first CSET is tomorrow.... at 7am (uck, so early). I am taking section 1... Language, Literature, Retoric, History, Social Science, Geography.

U.u; I am not sure how I am going to do on this test. Some/ most of the test questions are rather detailed.... so I don't know.

Also I should have studied more on the book I have (Cliff Notes). There is about 40 pages of material to study of outlines of information, like amazing outlines of the history portions etc. I think it basically is the answers I need to know... and I haven't even finished reading all of the history material. I've only just gotten to the World history section. I am so disappointed in myself... procrastination yet again.

The positive side to the CSET is that I can take these tests as many times as I need/want. Another benefit is that I do not have to pay for these tests, because the school can pay for them... but I honestly do not like the idea of taking tests multiple of times. However this is the first CSET test and I have no idea how the format is etc.... so it is a true learning experience.I also have a year to take and pass these tests. (3 Sections of CSET, and the CBEST, which I have signed up to take in Februrary)

I should have been more prepared for this... I hope I do pass... but I don't have much confidence in it.

Alex and I are going to get the mini vans break lights fixed (again! we did this 2-3 months ago). So I am going to bring my CSET book with me there.

I should get ready actually. We want to get to the shop early... before they get packed today. ttyl.

CSUN visit!

So I went to CSUN yesterday with my brother, Alex, and I had an absolute blast!

I have over 100 photos of the gorgeous trees, buildings, landscapes, and even turtles. ;D

The school is amazingly impressive! I think if Alex did not go there... and I would have seen the campus when I was in high school, I would have fallen in love with CSUN. Granted Alex has said they paid a lotttttt of money to beautiful the campus over the past 6 years (since he started attending). But still!

I even twittered in how CSUN is like x10 in comparison to what CSUCI has. Even the bookstore is like 10 times the size in comparison to ours. xD I loved that book store by the way (I even have photos of it too lol).

Alex and I had lunch with his friend Matt... whom he and I had a discussion about teaching and the credential testing. (For example, I have to take Section 1 (of 3) CSET testing on Saturday). Also lunch was super yummy, I could only eat half (Chinese food) so the rest is in the fridge.

Went back to the campus, I had a better tour of the library (which is in the background of the photo) which is HUGE it is the second largest library, after UCLA. Insane! Alex had worked on the 4th (highest) floor for like 3 -4 years.... so they all had stories of him and such. It was really fun to hear about him and meet the people I heard about for so long.

Then after the campus visit (which the campus is hugeeeeeeeeeee omg)... we went to Anime-Plus http://www.animeplus.com/ which was down the road from the campus. Oh my goodness... my Otaku fandom came out there! xD The store is absolutely lovely, large, spacious, organized, tons of stuff, and clean. I loved it.

I love it! :D It also has some knitting patterns in it! Once I saw that I had to have it! xD I always was interested in looking at all the Gothic Lolita styles and such, and this is such a great collection and it is in english! ;D It's great!

I had an absolute blast with my brother yesterday. I honestly enjoy hanging out with him more and more. ;D He is so funny and I love the banter we have all the time.

Oh I also got to drive on the way home. We switched when we got to Moorpark... we took the 118 home. So I just had lots of straight aways. ;D It was a lot of fun.

I should get back to studying for the CSET... I swear the amount of information it takes to become an elementary school teacher is insane... but you know what... this if this is what it takes to get the job.... then the job is worth it... they don't give the benefits and pay to just anyone. :) bye!
