Yay GolfnStuff paid for by CSUCI! Go carts! :o Yay! This is going to be a fun night with Jimmy~ :D

Yarn = Crack

So yeah seriously, yarn is my crack~ :D

I spent another $40 dollars on yarn today at the my local yarn store, Anacapa's Fine Yarn.
However, of three skeins of yarn... only one was for me! xD I bought 2 skeins of yarn for my swap partner, so I have two months set and then the last month will be stuff I find through out this fall. :)

I just need to send out my package for my last swap partner for the summer. Oi. Today is Friday right?! Ok I have Saturday to go to the post office... I just need to send it out and do all the letters and what not. I have the items in the box... I am such a procrastinator. Shame.

I have a lot of homework to do... I need to get started on it. A pretty good amount of reading... then I have a Science quiz on Monday... I just do not really 'know' what she was trying to teach us in class... so we will have to see. Studying at full force, until I can figure out what her quizzes are like.

A highlight for the day is that my dad got a Brita Water pitcher filter! :D I've noticed that since they are putting in the sewer lines the next block over (and will eventually get to ours) that the water tastes really metally... and I've been drinking tap water since I was a little girl and never had any problems with it. This is the first time I am not wanting to drink our tap water and I hate it because I love ice water at night and all the time and I haven't been wanting to drink any water. Plus it is really pretty~ ;D

Plus it comes with these two fancy water bottles~ :D
I am excited to use this, it will hold up in my purse very well! ;D Now I need to knit a 'bottle sock' for this~ ;D lol so it does not sweat in said purse. ;p

Mail! <3333

Soooo, I've spent tonssss of money online lately... like seriously... like almost $100 (shipping included etc). But to my defense not all of it is spent on stuff I wanted~~~... $25 of it is on gift projects! xD I am making Jimmy a pair of socks (I always thought he was joking that he wanted a pair of socks from me, lol) and then a baby blanket for a friend of mine who just had a baby boy.

Jimmy's socks are going to be from knit picks link Felici self striping in color way Schooner! I want to make him like regular socks... but he doesn't wear regular socks... he wears those ankle sport type socks a lot. So hmmm, if that is the case I can make him ankle socks and give him two pair! ;D (I ordered two 50gram skeins).

Then the second gift is the baby blanket, in get this~ Orange!! :D in Vanna's Choice Baby yarn link in the color way of Goldfish! xD Such a cute name. I messaged my friend on myspace asking her what colors baby boys wear (because I have no clue with boys lol) and that which color she liked most for her son Aiden. Well she replied and said uck on the blues, her fave color is green, but she LOVES orange for Aiden and is bummed that there are not a lot of baby clothes in that color. So instance solution~ baby blanket in a lovely orange! :D The pattern I am going to use is Sunny Baby Blanket link. So that is going to look beautiful! :) I am excited. I am just debating now between using a US 8 or US 9 needle. Iam a tight knitter and have usually had to go up a size in most patterns to get guage..... But I need a 29' circular needle, so I will have to go out and buy that later. So I guess when the yarn gets here I will make a swatch and see what happens. I am just anxious to get this started! :D My first blanket I ever made was .... to put it lightly not great. lol.

But then now with a new swap for the fall, I went on the goodie shopping spree... at the bookstore on campus~ xD I always try to at least toss in a few non knitting items, but hobbies that they like. :) I already have 2 months worth of 'good' (ie big) goodies~ ;D I am excited. But oi I spent like $40 dollars.... lol but granted I bought other stuff... for myself too... oi lol. However~... everything was on clearance/sale. :D So it would have been uber expensive if I didn't do this. ;D I love good deals.
- - -

I love it. I am chilling in one of the 'quiet rooms' and there is this older women (totally a grandma to someone <333) crocheting across the room from me. It makes me think of my Farmor (father's mother in danish, ie grandma) crocheting etc. However I did talk to Farmor for oh geez... 45 minutes or so today. I called her and chilled outside the book store :). I always enjoy talking to her. Oh that reminds me I need to send her photos of Socks. =D

Oh I also snagged an Obama 08 sticker from a table of voter registration in front of the book store, the people were friendly. I am already of course registered and heck even working as a polling place inspector. :D So I enjoyed chit chatting for a bit. I want an Obama button... my dad said he was going to get me one. (Even though I am the only democrate in the house. ;p <3) I am looking forward to November, not so much of my voting, I vote by mail and have since I turned 18, I've never voted at a polling place. However, running one and being in charge of a polling place (as inspector) is really fun... I've liked it each and every time I've done it. I also find it funny with my dad poping the 'Well Heather, my daughter, was the youngest inspector this county has has!' lol I give my dad bragging rights... however being 18 is the youngest you can get, so that helps me keep that title~.

I think I've done enough rambling. :) Jimmy owes me lunch at 1:15pm when he gets out of class. I love having this knitting journal.

Yay my school is awesome! They gave out free dippin-dots along with free I <3 CI t-shirts. Jimmy and I got the gray shirts. So awesome! :D

Sock's Fishy

socks fishy, originally uploaded by hsailormoon.

Our kitten Socks (yes that is her name, I liked Ami, but no one else did) lost her collar today, it was cute and pink and had sparkles. Boo.

But I made her a fishy toy with left over scrap yarn for the charity squares I have been working on. The pattern was suppose to be a felted fish toy, I made it with worsted acrylic (TLC Amore) on size 7 dpns. :D Came out to be the perfect fabric, then I stuffed the head with poly fill and left the tails open and sewed between the head and tail. :) She likes it, she tosses it up in the air a lot. I think I will make more of these for her, I have lots of worsted weight yarn to use up and tons of poly fill. ;D

Back to my English class homework. This reading is soooo dense, 25 pages was never so difficult. lol. But tomorrow I have one class which means chilling and studying in the morning with the thermos filled with yummy coffee and after class! :D

Oh I also ordered some sock yarn from knit picks.com (Felic striping) and harmony dpns in size 2 and 3. Yet it has a 'hold' placed on it, so I am going to have to call them tomorrow and find out what's up. :) I am excited to get those needles, I've been dying for them as time has gone by and decided to snag them up! :D

Also I am looking into making some baby blankets for friends of mine. It seems that tons of babies are poping out lately in my world of friends. o.o; Oi but <3

I want my thermus full with the yummy french vanilla coffee from the machine at school! Boo! Hehe.
Wow my english teacher was not kidding. This reading is dense. Iam at page 10 and there are 25 pages. I did finish 1 knitted square today.:)

Test

Hmm

I've tried to post here via my cell phone every so often. But apparently that stopped working and I was getting error messages sent back to my phone.

Well we did get the Volvo, oh and it is fantastic. It is in such great condition, we've had to put about $500-$700 dollars into it, but it was good timing because my financial aid (left over) has covered a lot of the costs. I am happy that we have a third vehicle and that it is such a great car (or station wagon ;D) It just looks so pretty. I cannot wait to get my license and drive it around and go places with it with Jimmy.

School has started... I finished my first week yesterday, but am on campus today for kicks. I am really suppose to be working, and I most likely will... later on. This is the first time that my classes are so dependent on text books, so I am patiently waiting for them to come in the mail. I even paid extra for the faster shipping on all of my books. I've saved about $143 dollars in buying them online on Amazon.com... but have spent about $220 overall. I just hate how they keep coming out with 'new' editions each and every year, they are first off very expensive with a new edition (ie 08) and then you cannot sell back your book when they come out with a new one. But buying them online is helping and I am not buying my Psy 345 class book, and am going to use the text book at the library to work on homeworks or reading. I am not wanting to spend another hundred dollars (it just came out with a new edition).

My classes are going to be interesting. An Education degree... is seriously no joke. People would tease me at the 'difficulty' of child lit, or childrens music classes... but my Engl 347 (Reading in social context) course... oh my goodness is intense. Then the Psy 345(Individual Disability Psy) is going to be complicated. It really makes me think back in highschool and having new teachers (just graduated) and am now realizing what hard work they've had to go through. It's impressive... and I am going through it, which is a trip on it's own. I am going to be one of those teachers. Then me wanting to be a teacher, and realizing how accomplished my college professors are... holy sh*t batman.... talk about amazing! I am like apspiring to be like them, it's insane. I love it. I am finally taking courses that are really making my end goal seem more like a reality and that it is coming up! Thus far my classes... General Ed, it's all be a sinch and I haven't really tried hard in most of them. But now, this is going to be a challenge and will require more work overall and not just on one or two papers. Iam excited about this semester, just remind me that come a month or two into it and I will be whining about it. ;)

On the knitting aspect of this blog. I've been trying to use up 'stash' yarn... like the acrylic yarn my mom has bought me in bulk at thrift stores. There is a lot of it, but I am also working on charity items with it, like I am single crocheting cat blankets for an animal shelter in San Fran. I've done two already and am working on the third. It is great because this crocheting goes fast, but also uses yarn up asap and is easy to throw in a purse, no needles to lose or falling stitches.

I have missed my sock knitting. I cannot wait to use up the sock yarn I already have. I am especially excited to get to the sock yarn my swap partner gave me this last month. I have that yarn in a skein and everything waiting... I am excited to see what it turns into.

I also have my Roam Jacket to finish, I need more yarn to finish the sleeves. I am not going to do a hood on it... but finishing and assembling... that is going to be a lot of work... but eventually I will have it done and wear it. One of these days. I also want to do like a round baby blanket, I have a friend that just had a baby boy and I want to make her a blanket. There is a pattern in Knit Simple that I would like to do something like that. :)

I want to see about subscribing to that magazine. I am hoping on going to Barnes n Noble with Jimmy on Friday, tomorrow, and read magazines. Like Vogue knitting... I loveeee the articles... but the patterns, pshhhh none of those will ever fit me and my 48 in boobies~ ;D lol. Nor do I feel like changing the pattern.

:) A highlight for the day... a thermus full of yummy french vanilla coffee (from a coffee vending machine yummy and cheap). This is the first time I've taken my dad's Edison Thermus and used it for school. I bought a large cup of coffee for like $1.30 and it is the perfect size for the thermus, and I neeeevvveerrr finish a large even at times medium cup of coffee before the rest of it gets cold and ucky. Here I have a nice small cup (cap) to fill and have nice hot coffee and I can shake it so the flavor does not rest at the bottom. Genius~ ;D

I think I will start my english work. I've already watched 2 Episodes of Ranarok Anime ;D

Falling for Ewe Autumn Yarn Swap Q/A

  1. Do you knit or crochet? Knitting for a majority. But I have done some single crochet work once and a blue moon. How long have you been at your craft? I learned how to knit and crochet when I was about 7 years old from my grandmother, and it's been on and off for several years. But lately I've been majorly into it for about 3-4 years. :) (ie increasing my yarn stash lol)
  2. Do you spin? What type of spinning do you do? No, I know to avoid crack when I see it. ;) I would love too, but I know I do not have the time or funds to start. But getting a spinning wheel and such when I get my own place and settled would be nice, but years from now.
  3. Are there any other crafts that you participate in? Does World of Warcraft count?! ;P I like cross stitching and some basic sewing (the machine is still big for me lol)
  4. What are your favorite yarns/fibers? Right now superwash sock yarn is awesome. Wool is nice, Silk, Cotton, I like mixtures too.
  5. What are your LEAST favorite yarns/fibers? Mohair, I itch, but nothing major it just gets everywhere, Alpaca is ok, soft, but I would only prefer a small content of it. Oh and scruffy acrylic yarn. Like Lion Brand homespun yarn... ugh terrible and rough, but I am ok with typical acrylic yarns too, like Caron has lovely stuff and some lion brand. Soft and smooth is key lol.
  6. Are there any types/brands of yarn that you are dying to work with but haven’t gotten a chance? Oh tons~ Socks that Rock, Cherry Tree Hill, Lisa Souza yarn, Fleece Artist, All Things Heather, Wolemiser, etc. :D
  7. What are your favorite types of projects to knit/crochet? At the moment it is socks socks socks. But I am enjoying finishing up a sweater. I like to make things purposeful really, so I try to figure stuff out like that. Right now some charity stuff has been fun. I always want my knitting to have a meaning, verses just something to get thrown in the back of the closet.
  8. What are you currently working on? Socks, the Knitty Roam sweater, and charity squares and pet blankets. Anything you plan to start this autumn? More socks hehe, but I have been dying for a shrug or the 'boob holder'. lol Eventually. Or even those loose shrugs/shawls are nice too, so maybe.
  9. What is your favorite FO? I think Square Cakes (on my ravelry) was fun and the fingerless gloves too. They came out cute.
  10. What is your oldest UFO? Oh gosh. I would have to say the Roam sweater, it was from last summer when the issue came out.
  11. Are their any knitting/crochet techniques that you would like to learn? I think circular knitting for socks knitting would be fun(one circular needle too, magic loop right?). I would like to do toe up socks eventually maybe.
  12. Are you a sock knitter? xD Of course! What are your foot measurements? Oh god I have no clue, I've tried to figure it out, usually the mediums work with my feet, but they are long I have a US 11 size foot.
  13. Do you have a yarn winder and/or a swift? No~ big investment. I still wrap up yarn into a skein with a big knitting needle in the middle. Fun but oh my god the tangles. Eventually, one day it would be wonderful to have them.
  14. Where/how to you keep you needles/hooks? In a shoe box size tub on the shelf, messy but alright. I did however get a hard case straight needle holder, so I am working into getting my straight needles into there, that are important for me to keep care of.
  15. Do you collect anything? Trying to collect more yarn. ;) Books of course too lol. I really honestly don't have a true collection, I just think I love small cute things more then anything else, vauge I know but thats the best I can muster.
  16. What is your favorite type of music? Indie, Pop, Rock, Alternative, World Music, Classical, Electronic, J-Pop, Dance, etc. Not big on the Country, sad but true. Are you MP3 ready? I put music on my cell phone, but I download torrents most of the time. I do not use I-tunes, I dislike Ipods and Itunes, too much money for an ok product. (I sold Ipods and mp3 players for about 2 years)
  17. Do you like sweets? <333333> What are your favorites? Gummies! Twizzlers PullnPeel (fave), Gummie Bears, Licorish, Jelly Beans (not the fancy kind, I forget the brand), Milk Chocolate is nice too~, peanut butter, lol But Gummies are an all time fave lol
  18. What is your living situation like? At home with the parents and older brother. Any pets? You mean other parts of the family right?! ;p I have 3 cats, Duo, Faye (both black females), and Ami (a kitten brown with white) and the chickens that rule our yard... yes chickents, roosters, hens, chicks the whole nine yards, and yes we collect eggs. We haven't bought eggs since last year. Children? Other then the cats, none and keeping it that way~ ;D Too young lol.
  19. Are you allergic to anything? I would say be weary of the mohair type stuff... I am allergic to the cats fur (my eyes get irritated and I do sneeze, they are short hair cats though) nothing that sheds lol preferably.
  20. Do you have an online wish list (Amazon, Etsy, Loopy Ewe, etc.)? Please include links for your swap pal. Of course~ Amazon wishlist: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1NN5MW6PC7G6K
  21. Loopy Ewe: http://www.theloopyewe.com/wishlist/show/19667/?token=02a9ed77cb3a
  22. Are you having a birthday during this swap? Nope my birthday is in May.
  23. What is your Ravelry ID? HSailorMoon

Not an Lys, but just as fun (if not more shh)

This is what I did yesterday night! :D Oh my gosh I had so much fun!!! xD

I did a huge post on my livejournal, so I just decided to copy the link and put it here! :D

http://hsailormoon.livejournal.com/299561.html

You should totally go to it! There is video of me playing/singing for Rockband 2!!!!! :D Oh it was fun!

Hurray for Joysticq.com! :D I love dating a gamer.

Thursday, July 17, 2008

Didnt go to the lys after all. But we are at the Joystiq E3 After party, in Santa Monica. Tons of free gaming goodies! :X

good good

Everything is good.

I've been knitting up a storm, that now my fingers in my right hand are kind of hurting. I need to keep my hand lotion near me while I knit. lol

I am thinking of hopping by my lys to pick up this like hand balm thingy. It seemed cool and the reviews around the store is that it is great.

I realized I still have most of my cash from AX in my purse... so it is burning a hole in my pocket. My parents have yet to ask for it back... so I am like ooooo I can use my cash to buy stuff there and they will not know (unlike the debit card lol) xDDD I am so terrible.

But I want to go spend the day with Jimmy really... and the lys is in a great location where I can go to all these other shopping places etc too! :D Like Barnes n Noble, Target, Micheals, Gamestop, Sprint store (for him to check out the instinct phone). etc. Also we can get lunch and a good cup of coffee or what not there too~ :D I am excited.

I miss just spending time with him, even though AX wasn't that long ago. But spending 4 days with him 24/7... oh it was so great. Just seeing each other once and awhile during the week is tough. I don't think school will be much better either. I have most of my classes during the day (Mon-Wed) and he usually has afternoon classes. But alas different majors~ it is not like we are working on our GE reqs. lol.

Well I should get ready.

Oh I did want to mention knitting stuff. I have finally decided that I want to start doing those 'squares' of knitting for charity, warmupamerica.com has it where you knit a square and mail it to them and they put all these patches together to make blankets for different organizations. So I am doing that with all my worsted acrylic yarn (and I have quite a bit, due to my mom buying me thrift store yarns, and a lot of it is acrylic, that someone else did not want). I love knitting, so I don't care what is really. Just as long as it doesnt tear my hands apart like Lion Brand Homespun xP.

Also sock knitting is going well. I am almost done with the Art Walk yarn sock. I cannot wait to finish and take tons of photos of it~ oh the colors change so much it is pretty close up!. Then I have the 1st sock of the Tofutsies from AX almost done, but I leave that for out and about knitting, because.... its stockinette, super easy. :D

Second sock syndrome? Me... nah, I don't think so. I get excited to start the other one, so then I can finish the pair and start a new one. But it helps that I have two sets of dpns and work on two different socks at the same time~ :D One is usually a bit complex and the other is super simple and easy. :D <3

Now I need to get ready.

(oh and Stash and Burn podcast is amazing! :D I love listening to them~ ;DTons of de-stashing tips, which I need to do lol, before it gets 'bad' lol)

Ax 08

Honestly I had the best time ever in LA for Anime Expo!

I adored that I was able to be with Jimmy 24/7, for four days straight. I could not of had a better person to be with, I simply love him so much! :D

WE HAD A BLAST! We got cranky once and awhile... due to just being tired (and he drank lots of energy drinks, like two a day or so, seriously... and that is 'nothing' for him oi ><:) or hot (which was me, I hate being hot omg ><;) But honestly, I would not want to be cranky with anyone else ;p. Here are some photos that I took. I honestly do not want to post each and every one. So here is the album. :D http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a360/hsailormoon4/Ax08/

Then let's see, Oh I bought tons of goodies. Lots of manga! :D (which I rarely buy and I spent a pretty penny lol about 60 or so on all of it) Plushies (designed by the convention, of a kitty and bunny, plus come with their own pins). Two figurings, a cute small bento box (it had a black cat (from Kiki's Delivery Service) and it sooo reminded me of Duo so I had to have it!) I bought some cuteeee pins, oh and I bought an anime series (season one)~ xDDD I should just take a picture of all of it later! xD I loved it!

I kept trying to tell myself that, if I don't spend money here, I can spend the money on yarn... but the anime won~ xD Last time I went with Jimmy (2 years ago). When it came to the shopping, he spent tonsssssss of money, and I spent like next to nothing. Now this time around it has switched around~ xD (hahaha) It was great.

The Panels that we went to were a blast, I am a bigger fan of TokyoPop comp. more so now! xD We each won free stuff from some of the panels we went to. We went to 2 concerts~ oh they were fun. Then.... ummm.... oh AX Idol! xD Oh my goodness it was soooo much fun to go to! Voice acting is tough~~~ xD It was so much fun, I am glad we went to it on a whim, and we are so addicted to it, we have to go to it each year from now on. Then we watched some awesome anime! xD Oh it was fun!

The one thing we did not go to (because we went to pretty much all the major events) was the 'dances' (which I was ok with ;p I remember highschool and junior high, I doubt it has changed much since then... tons of people moving in a big blob in the middle of the room, dark, misty 'for mood but you know its sweat ew', tooooooo loud music... and dirty sweaty people, which means it is going to be super hot in there. Um. No. xP I pulled the ' I am too tired to go' card with Jimmy on the last night. But honestly it was true I was d
eaddddd tired. I slept through the Neon Genesis Evangelion showing, which was soooo awesome! But I was sooo tired I couldn't sit up and try to watch it, so a half an hour into it, I crashed between the seats on the floor the whole time. So to go to a hot sweaty dirty loud room... no thanks, Sorry Jimmy. (He was wanting to go to it at least once, sorry)

I did some sock knitting there~ :D Not a lot, but just a bit, close to finishing the cuff... I left it behind one time and omg I could have done so much knitting, I was seriously kicking myself, it was lame.

But overall, I would love to go again and I cannot wait for next year. I like that they have the LA Convention Center, it works out just right for how big this event is. I reached 43k this year I think! xD Crazy~ :D I loved it~

Sunday, July 6, 2008

Yay I finished the shopping hall at AX! :o Now Jimmy and I are now watching a movie we missed last night.:)

Friday, July 4, 2008

Iam so bummed. I have had my sock knitting with me the whole time during the con, and I completly forgot about it right now. :( I miss it
